Yamaha Neo’s, an electric scooter from Yamaha, has seen a significant price drop across dealerships in Vietnam. Since its launch in the Vietnamese market in late 2022, the Neo’s sales performance has been underwhelming, prompting dealers to slash prices to boost demand. This move aims to enhance the model’s competitiveness in the rapidly diversifying electric scooter market in terms of variety and design.

The Yamaha Neo’s is listed at VND 49,091,000, but dealers are offering substantial discounts, with some selling it for as low as VND 33,000,000.

This price reduction is a result of intense competition from other electric scooter brands, such as VinFast, which offers attractive incentives. Additionally, new models from Chinese manufacturers, featuring competitive pricing, have further challenged the position of the Yamaha Neo’s in the market, despite its Japanese branding and exports to Europe.

The listed price of the Yamaha Neo’s is VND 49,091,000. To enhance competitiveness and adapt to market dynamics, Yamaha dealerships have opted for a significant price cut, reducing the selling price by over VND 16,000,000 compared to the suggested retail price. According to surveys at several dealerships, the on-road price of the Yamaha Neo’s, excluding registration fees, is approximately VND 33,000,000.

Yamaha Neo’s is witnessing substantial discounts at dealerships.

Specifically, in Ho Chi Minh City, the final on-the-road price after completing the registration process is VND 39,500,000, which is still significantly lower than the initial suggested retail price. This pricing strategy reflects dealers’ efforts to stimulate sales and clear inventory, especially given the perception that the model is challenging to sell due to its uncompetitive pricing compared to other electric scooters in the market.

Despite its compact design and basic features, the Yamaha Neo’s is considered relatively expensive, especially considering the lengthy nine-hour charging time to reach a full charge and the optimal travel distance of 72 kilometers under specific conditions of a constant speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

The Yamaha Neo’s is a stylish and compact electric scooter that appeals to female urban commuters.

The Yamaha Neo’s design is characterized by its sleek and distinctive styling, making it a suitable choice for female urban commuters seeking a daily means of transportation. However, the usage of this scooter is not entirely convenient due to the limited availability of charging stations for electric scooters in Vietnam.

While the Yamaha Neo’s boasts features such as LED lighting, an LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity via the Y-connect app, a USB charging port, a smart key system, and a spacious 27-liter under-seat storage compartment, these attributes seem insufficient to generate strong market appeal.
