The all-new Roewe D5X SUV has been launched in China, offering a stylish and feature-rich package to consumers. With a price range of $16,550 to $20,300, this SUV is a great value proposition.
One of the standout features of the Roewe D5X is its exterior design. SAIC proudly boasts that the D5X boasts a new super-strong body with a high proportion of high-strength steel (79%) and ultra-high-strength steel (44%), the highest in its class. This SUV has also aced the extremely rigorous crash tests conducted by the China Automotive Research Institute, ensuring peace of mind for prospective buyers.
To sweeten the deal during its launch, SAIC is offering a $1,400 discount for customers who place orders early, along with six other attractive benefits.
In terms of dimensions, the D5X measures 4,700 x 1,890 x 1,664 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. It comes equipped with either 19-inch or 20-inch wheels, depending on the variant. The design is sleek and elegant, drawing inspiration from classical Chinese architecture. The front features a closed-off grille and hidden door handles, giving it a modern and sophisticated look.
The interior of the D5X is just as impressive, featuring a panoramic sunroof and a dual-screen setup that combines the instrument cluster and infotainment system into a seamless 24.6-inch display. The new Zebra (Banma) smart car interface enables easy navigation synchronization between your phone and the vehicle with just a click. The D5X also comes equipped with L2 driver assistance features for added convenience and safety.
Under the hood, the Roewe D5X utilizes the fourth generation of its super hybrid DMH (dual-mode) system. The latest iteration employs a 1.5-liter turbocharged 15FKE engine with a maximum output of 110 kW, along with a front-mounted electric motor capable of delivering 153 kW. This hybrid setup enables a brisk 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. The all-electric range is an impressive 135 km, and when combined with the gasoline engine, the total range extends to 1,300 km.
During a test drive earlier this year in Hainan Island, the D5X achieved a remarkable combined range of 1,621 km, with an average fuel consumption of just 3.8 liters per 100 km. This significantly outperforms the official CLTC figure of 5.257 liters per 100 km. The battery can also support external discharging of up to 6 kW.
Roewe, a brand owned by SAIC, also produces vehicles under the MG, Maxus, IM, and Rising nameplates. SAIC is also a part of the SGMW joint venture, which manufactures popular models such as the Wuling Bingo and Hogguang Mini EV. Additionally, SAIC produces vehicles for brands like Volkswagen and Buick from its base in Shanghai.
