On May 27, at the Tan Thanh Border Gate area (Lang Son, Vietnam) – Po Chai (Bang Wall, Guangxi, China), the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee (Vietnam) coordinated with the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to organize a ceremony to officially announce the opening of a dedicated cargo transport route at Milestone 1088/2-1089; Tan Thanh – Po Chai clearance way (Milestone 1090-1091 area); and the Coc Nam – Lung Nghiu clearance way (Milestone 1104-1105 area) belonging to the Huu Nghi (Vietnam) – Huu Nghi Quan (China) International Border Gate.
This event marks an important milestone and creates favorable conditions for both sides to enhance people-to-people exchanges, expand tourism cooperation, and promote the pilot construction of smart border gates.
According to the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, over the years, two-way import and export activities through the border gates of Lang Son Province (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) have been convenient and vibrant.
The total import and export turnover through the Lang Son (Vietnam) – Guangxi (China) border gates in 2023 reached over $52 billion, an increase of more than 85% compared to 2022. In the first five months of 2024, the turnover has already reached over $22 billion, an increase of about 30% compared to the same period in 2023.
To further promote and improve the efficiency of cargo clearance through the clearance ways and dedicated roads of the two sides, Lang Son Province (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) have actively exchanged and agreed to officially put into operation the dedicated cargo transport route at Milestone 1088/2-1089, the Tan Thanh – Po Chai clearance way at Milestone 1090-1091, and the Coc Nam – Lung Nghiu clearance way at Milestone 1104-1105 belonging to the Huu Nghi – Huu Nghi Quan border gates.
At the ceremony, the leaders of both sides affirmed that in the coming time, the two provinces/regions will continue to coordinate closely, strengthen exchanges, and jointly report to the competent authorities for approval so that the clearance ways and dedicated cargo transport routes of the Huu Nghi – Huu Nghi Quan border gates will have the full characteristics and functions of an international border gate.
They will also continue to unify solutions to improve clearance convenience and goods delivery methods suitable for the conditions and needs of both sides.
The Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee also added that in the future, the province will continue to develop the Huu Nghi International Border Gate into an advanced and modern border gate, based on the application of high technology, with a modern road system connecting to seaports and airports.
The Huu Nghi International Border Gate will become a model border gate, a high-tech border gate service center with intelligent clearance capacity, electronic car parking, self-service warehousing, and other digital services to increase proactiveness and reduce clearance time for import and export goods through this border gate.
