CREATING SUSTAINABLE VALUE IN AGRICULTURE
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2023, the agricultural sector achieved a GDP growth rate of 3.83%, the highest in recent years, significantly contributing to the economy’s growth. With its bright spots and outstanding achievements, agriculture continues to affirm its crucial role as a pillar of the economy, ensuring food security, macroeconomic balances, and contributing to macroeconomic stability.
In the context of the agricultural sector’s strong transformation, THACO has invested and leveraged its existing “industrial” strengths to focus on developing agriculture with the mission of “Elevating Vietnamese Agriculture.” The core strategy of THACO AGRI (a THACO group member) is large-scale agricultural production based on organic principles, industrial management methods across the value chain, and the application of mechanization, biotechnology, and digitalization with a suitable roadmap.
As of now, THACO AGRI has essentially perfected its large-scale agricultural production model across 84,000 hectares in three countries: Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It has established large-scale agricultural production complexes, integrating/recycling various aspects, including: crop cultivation (bananas, pineapples, fruit trees, and forestry trees), livestock farming (cattle, pigs, fish, and other livestock), food processing, and the production of agricultural supplies and equipment.
By the end of 2023, THACO AGRI’s total revenue reached nearly VND 3,500 billion, with a total cattle herd of nearly 79,000, a pig herd of 58,000, and 84,000 tons of animal feed production. The Group’s organic fruit products, known for their consistent quality, have been exported to major consuming markets such as China, Japan, and South Korea, with a total volume of 123,000 tons, earning USD 85 million.
Moving forward, THACO AGRI will continue to invest in completing the model of large-scale agricultural production complexes based on organic principles, integrating/recycling; accelerating investment projects in construction, new planting, and livestock farming to lay the foundation for sustainable agricultural development.
In 2024, to meet production and business demands, THACO AGRI will recruit more than 12,600 personnel to work in the agricultural complexes in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
TAKING THE LEAD IN MECHANICAL AND SUPPORTING INDUSTRIES
THACO is also recognized as the “leading crane,” making significant contributions to the country’s economic development, particularly in the mechanical and supporting industries.
In late 2022, THACO established the Truong Hai Industrial Group Company – THACO INDUSTRIES, operating as a large-scale specialized industrial park, including: a Research and Development (R&D) Center, a Mechanical Complex, and 20 factories producing specialized equipment and auto parts and components, with a total investment of over USD 850 million, covering an area of 320 hectares, and employing nearly 8,000 people.
Today, the Group has become a strategic partner to renowned automobile brands such as Kia, Mazda, Peugeot, Toyota, and Hyundai. THACO INDUSTRIES’ mechanical products have been exported to over 15 countries, notably North America, the EU, Australia, and ASEAN, gradually asserting the capabilities and position of Vietnamese brands in the global supply chain.
In addition to projects in the THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park, THACO INDUSTRIES is studying the feasibility of investing in auto parts factories in the North and a Mechanical Manufacturing and Supporting Industry Center in the South. THACO INDUSTRIES’ extensive investment network will create opportunities for businesses to join the supply chain, with the Group as the pillar, gradually becoming a crucial link in promoting the development of the mechanical manufacturing industry in Quang Nam, the Central region, and the entire country.
“The Group continuously expands its scale, enhances production capacity, invests in modern equipment and machinery, and transfers new technology. All these efforts aim to improve product quality, increase productivity and efficiency, create added value, and promote the sustainable and in-depth development of the industry. Moreover, to assert and promote its role in creating foundational value, THACO INDUSTRIES also provides robust platforms in technology, infrastructure, and human resources to support businesses in materializing their innovative ideas,” shared the leadership of THACO INDUSTRIES.
Mechanical engineering is considered a key industry and a foundation for socio-economic development, especially for a country like Vietnam, which is in the process of industrialization and modernization. As a leading enterprise, THACO INDUSTRIES aims to build an ecosystem of mechanical and supporting industries, striving to become the “core” of regional connectivity and a growth driver for Vietnam’s industrial sector.
Accordingly, in 2024, THACO INDUSTRIES will recruit 980 personnel, including over 320 engineers for the R&D Center.
In this new phase of development, THACO expects to continue its strong growth in revenue and profits, increase domestic production value, and boost exports, thereby creating more job opportunities for workers and making greater contributions to the state budget.
