On July 1st, major banks including Vietcombank, Agribank, BIDV, and Vietinbank maintained their selling price of SJC gold bars at VND 76.98 million per tael.

Customers can continue to register for online gold purchases to lock in prices, with the option to complete the transaction at the bank later. Depending on the policies of each bank, individuals are allowed to purchase up to one tael of SJC gold bars within a week or a month.

According to interviews conducted by NLD reporters on the morning of July 1st, banks reported a decreasing trend in gold bar purchases by the public. Some customers who had successfully registered to buy gold did not proceed with the transaction.

A senior executive at Agribank stated that since the “start of the season” on June 3rd when banks began selling gold bars, the bank has sold nearly 20,000 taels of gold. Recently, with the shift to an online registration process instead of physical queues, the number of gold bar purchase registrations has significantly dropped. Notably, each day, 20-30 individuals who had successfully registered to buy gold failed to proceed with the transaction. The bank attempted to contact these individuals by phone to confirm the transaction but received no response.

Meanwhile, a representative from VietinBank shared that the State Bank of Vietnam sells a certain amount of gold to the bank daily. VietinBank has been selling out its daily allocation and has sold approximately 16,000 taels of gold so far. Similarly, BIDV has sold around 15,000 taels of SJC gold bars, and Vietcombank’s outlets in Ho Chi Minh City serve over 100 customers purchasing SJC gold bars daily.

According to the State Bank of Vietnam, since commercial banks and the SJC Company started selling SJC gold bars on June 3rd, they have sold hundreds of thousands of taels of gold. The State Bank of Vietnam will continue to sell gold to commercial banks and the SJC Company so that they can sell gold online to meet the demands of the people.
