On July 4th, the Ministry of Industry and Trade representative affirmed that Vietnam will continue to strengthen its efforts in initiating lawsuits, investigations, and implementing trade remedy measures. This ensures a level playing field for domestic industries facing potential unfair competition from imported goods that are dumped or subsidized, causing significant harm to local producers.

As of the end of June, the Ministry had initiated investigations into 28 trade remedy cases and applied measures to 22 imported products. In the first half of 2024, they have actively worked on investigating and reviewing trade remedy cases. Specifically, they continued to investigate and review 7 cases initiated in 2023, initiated 1 new investigation, and received and processed 7 new requests for investigations and reviews.

Currently, there are 4 trade remedy measures in effect for steel products, 1 for related products (welding materials), and 2 ongoing investigations related to prestressed concrete steel strand and wind turbine towers.

The Ministry is in the process of conducting a sunset review of the application of anti-dumping measures on cold-rolled stainless steel (AD01) and coated steel (AD04) to assess the effectiveness of the measures and the possibility of extending them for another 5 years. The results of these two reviews are expected to be announced in October 2024.
