Regarding the suspension of the ferry service across the Hau River, connecting Ninh Kieu district (Can Tho) and Binh Minh town (Vinh Long), as reported by Tien Phong, the People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district has responded with a dispatch regarding the license application for the inland waterway transport station for this ferry service.
Previously, in May 2024, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy, the ferry owner, submitted a proposal requesting consideration for the license/extension of the ferry operation. The People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district assigned the Department of Construction to inspect and advise on the matter.

After considering the proposal of the Department of Construction, the People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district agreed to grant a deadline until September 30, 2024, for Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy and Can Tho Bridge Joint Stock Company to establish and supplementarily provide the full set of procedures and documents required for the new license for the inland waterway transport station for the ferry.
The People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district requires that during the waiting period for the resolution, the passenger transport activities must comply with the regulations on inland waterway transport management and the current legal provisions.
The People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district assigned the Department of Construction to take the lead and coordinate with relevant units to regularly inspect the safety conditions of the inland waterway transport station as prescribed.
