A hiccup occurred during the evening sales session, between 8:45 pm and 9:15 pm.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong, at noon on July 7th, during “Hang Du Muc”‘s TikTok livestream, all the durians offered were sold out within just 5 minutes.

Pham Ngoc Anh Tung, the founder of UFO Technology and Trade Co., Ltd. (FoodMap Asia) – representing the seller, shared that during the noon time slot, customers had ordered 12 tons of durians from a single container (approximately 15-17 tons).

This news was well-received by the public as a positive sign for the consumption of fresh agricultural products through online channels.

However, during the evening sales session, between 8:45 pm and 9:15 pm, a hiccup occurred.

Aside from technical issues with the shopping cart continuously showing “out of stock” despite the availability of durians, the biggest problem was the inappropriate remarks made by the garden representative during the livestream.

Specifically, the label representative was accused of talking too much, overshadowing the host, “Hang Du Muc”; and making excessive jokes with “Quang Linh Vlog” (with 4.1 million followers on TikTok, who livestreamed together) which caused him discomfort. These included remarks about not allowing him to eat durians and not inviting him to the Krong Pak Durian Festival…

The noon durian livestream went smoothly.

During the livestream itself, many comments were made complaining about this individual, and the situation escalated the following day. As a result, many social media users posted statuses, comments, and even videos calling for order cancellations.

A TikTok account created a video compilation of the times the garden representative caused “Quang Linh Vlog” discomfort and shared that they had officially canceled three orders “because I bought the durians out of my affection for Hang Du Muc and Quang Linh, not because I wanted to eat durians, which can be easily bought at the market.”

The person who appeared during the “Hang Du Muc”‘s durian livestream, nicknamed “O Huyen Sau Rieng” (Nguyen Thai Huyen), is also well-known in the durian entrepreneurship community. Nguyen Thai Huyen has a Facebook page with 110,000 followers, a TikTok channel with 93,200 followers, and several clips with over 1 million views.

The July 7 durian livestream sparked heated discussions on social media.

Many netizens left negative comments and angry emojis on Nguyen Thai Huyen’s social media pages, prompting her to disable comments.

On the evening of July 8, FoodMap Asia’s TikTok channel addressed the durian livestream incident of the previous night with a message asking customers not to cancel their orders. Just three hours after the post, it had garnered over 1.3 million views and about 5,600 comments.

In a conversation with the reporter on the night of July 8, Pham Ngoc Anh Tung acknowledged that the evening livestreamer “wasn’t ideal,” and he was addressing some of the issues that arose.

According to Tung, “O Huyen” was representing one of the durian farms in Dak Lak that supplied durians for the livestream. “In similar agricultural livestreams, FoodMap Asia also invites farmers or locals to interact with viewers,” he explained.

Tung added that while the garden representative’s performance during the noon livestream was satisfactory, there were some “off-script” moments during the evening session.

“Although customers may have canceled their orders, the situation is still under control. We are monitoring the situation and addressing it. Many customers have provided positive feedback after receiving their durians, which motivates us to strive in this durian sales campaign,” Tung shared.
