Car dealership agrees to partial refund
The dispute between the owner of two MG5 MT cars and the dealership has finally come to an end. In the latest development, the dealership offered to refund 16 million VND to Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Tram, the owner of the vehicles. Ms. Tram eventually accepted this solution.
“By the time I made the decision, the paint on both my MG5s had already started to peel off. I had no choice but to resolve this issue as soon as possible so that I could have the cars repainted in Hai Phong. Otherwise, the rain would damage them further,” said Ms. Tram, explaining her decision to accept the partial refund.
According to Ms. Tram, the refunded amount is not enough to cover the repainting of both cars. “For each car, I have to spend an additional 2 million VND. This means I have to pay twice for the same job. More importantly, I’ve lost a lot of time, and my work has been disrupted,” she added, expressing her frustration.
Recap of the incident
Earlier, in early April 2024, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Tram purchased two MG5 MT cars from the MG Lang Ha dealership. After the purchase, she requested the dealership to repaint the cars from white to yellow to suit her business needs. The cost of repainting each car was 14.5 million VND.
Ms. Tram mentioned that she and the dealership had agreed to repaint the entire car, both the interior and exterior. However, the outcome fell far short of her expectations.
“Both cars took more than a month to be delivered. The paint job on the first car was very sloppy, and I immediately informed the sales agent and the dealership. They assured me that the second car would be done properly and according to our agreement. However, when I received the second car, it was painted in the same unsatisfactory manner as the first,” Ms. Tram recounted.
The paint under the car’s underbody started to peel off after less than a month.
When Ms. Tram reported the issue, the dealership staff blamed the paint department and asked her to bring the cars to Hanoi for repainting. “After 20 days of driving, the paint under the car’s underbody started to peel off,” shared Ms. Tram.
