The Samsung Galaxy Buds line debuted in 2019, and until now, all of their offerings have featured a “stemless” design. However, that’s about to change as Samsung’s Unpacked event on July 10 draws near, where they are expected to introduce the Galaxy Buds3 – the first Galaxy Buds to feature a stemmed design.

This information was previously leaked, and official retail packaging images revealed today have confirmed this change. The photos were posted by a Tanzania-based technology retailer named @phonepointdar on Instagram.

From the images, we can see that the Galaxy Buds3 will be offered in at least two color options: white and gray. The retailer has also listed the price of the Galaxy Buds3 as 550,000 TZS, which converts to approximately 5.2 million VND.

Undoubtedly, there will be opinions that Samsung is “copying Apple.” However, it’s important to note that hundreds of other companies have produced stemmed true wireless earbuds in the past few years. Samsung is merely the latest company to adopt this design, and who knows, it might even be a positive improvement.

The Achilles’ heel of most previous Galaxy Buds (except for the Galaxy Buds+ launched in 2020, which didn’t even have active noise cancellation – ANC) has been the mic quality. Hopefully, the shift to a stemmed design, which places the microphone closer to the mouth, will give the Galaxy Buds3 superior recording capabilities.

Of course, the Galaxy Buds3 is expected to come with active noise cancellation (ANC). Although Apple is often credited with pioneering the stemmed earbud design, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Buds feature a distinctly angular stem design (perhaps intentionally) that sets it apart from Apple’s AirPods.
