On July 9th, Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company notified the Haiphong Port Authority in Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau, the Departments of Transportation, and other relevant units of their decision to temporarily suspend the passenger transport route between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao and vice versa.

Based on operational considerations, Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company will temporarily suspend the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route from July 29th until further notice. The company has also informed ticket agents and partners about this decision.

The suspension is attributed to the inefficiencies observed during the operation of the Thang Long ship on the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route. The company identified several challenges that impacted passengers’ preferences, including the remote location of Saigon – Hiep Phuoc Port, which requires passenger transfers from the city center, and additional fees incurred by passengers for transportation to the port. Furthermore, unfavorable weather conditions have also affected the effectiveness of this passenger transport route.

The ship will be temporarily out of service until a suitable alternative is found

As a result, Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company will halt passenger transport operations between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao to explore more suitable alternatives in Ho Chi Minh City. Once a feasible option is identified, the company will submit it to the relevant authorities for approval and resume operations on this route.

Following the suspension of the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao passenger transport route, the Thang Long ship will primarily serve the Vung Tau – Con Dao route.

The Thang Long high-speed ship is currently the largest passenger ship in Vietnam. Made of aluminum alloy, it measures nearly 80 meters in length and over 9.5 meters in width, featuring 4 decks and a capacity of 1,017 passengers.
