For car enthusiasts, owning a luxury or sports car is often a far-fetched dream due to their exorbitant price tags. However, there is a more accessible way to indulge in this passion: collecting model cars.
Model cars are typically made to scale, and their level of detail can vary, resulting in different price points that cater to diverse economic backgrounds. While some models cost only a few hundred thousand VND, more intricate ones can reach tens of millions of VND, or even hundreds of millions, like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan model currently up for sale in Vietnam.

The 1:8 scale Rolls-Royce Cullinan model by Amalgam is currently up for sale in Vietnam.
This particular 1:8 scale Rolls-Royce Cullinan model, crafted by Amalgam, is not widely available and is even absent from the manufacturer’s official website. Instead, it is offered as an option to buyers of the actual Cullinan from Rolls-Royce. Customers can opt to purchase this model, customized to match the interior and exterior color scheme of their full-sized vehicle.
The level of detail in these models is astonishing. They can include features such as floor mats, leather upholstery, real wood trim, and decorative lighting throughout the interior and exterior, all of which can be controlled remotely.
Even the iconic starlight headliner, a signature option in Rolls-Royce vehicles, has been meticulously replicated in this model car. The entire lighting system, including the interior lights and the starlight headliner, can be turned on and off using a remote control.

The model car features intricate details, including functional interior lighting.
The pricing of these models is just as enigmatic as their full-sized counterparts. Collectors estimate that a highly detailed model, like the one mentioned, could cost around 1.2 billion VND. However, this price does not include the cost of purchasing the actual vehicle, which is required to obtain the model.
In Vietnam, a brand-new Rolls-Royce Cullinan costs approximately 40 billion VND. This amount is double the price of a 162-square-meter, three-bedroom villa currently listed for sale in the Vuon Tung area of Ecopark. It’s worth noting that the model car being offered for sale is pre-owned, so the buyer won’t need to purchase an actual Cullinan to acquire it.

The model car features real wood and leather details.
The 1:8 scale is relatively large compared to other popular scales chosen by model car enthusiasts, such as 1:18, 1:24, 1:32, and 1:64. This larger size allows the manufacturer to incorporate more intricate details.
The model Cullinan also features a golden Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, replicating the optional gold-plated version available on the real car. Additionally, the rear seats of the model car mimic the four-seat configuration offered by Rolls-Royce for the Cullinan.
Other noteworthy details include the two umbrellas in the rear doors, identical to those found in the full-sized Cullinan, and the use of magnets to ensure the doors close securely.

The model car features individual rear seats, similar to the optional configuration in the real Cullinan.
Currently, a 1:8 scale Rolls-Royce Cullinan model by Amalgam is being offered for sale in Vietnam through social media. The asking price is over 400 million VND, equivalent to the cost of a brand-new Toyota Vios. Interestingly, when this model car was imported in April 2023, its estimated value was a staggering 1.2 billion VND.
