Bamboo Airways, under the leadership of its CEO Mr. Luong Hoai Nam, has ambitious plans for expansion. The airline aims to increase its fleet size by the end of 2024, with a target of 12 additional aircraft. This expansion will enable them to cater to more domestic and international destinations.

Bamboo Airways plans to expand its fleet by the end of the year.
During the first half of 2024, Bamboo Airways has already leased three additional A320 aircraft, bringing their total operating fleet to eight. Mr. Nam shared that alongside fleet development, they are also focusing on maximizing the potential of high-demand routes, connecting renowned domestic and international tourist destinations.
A significant maintenance contract worth $36 million was signed with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on July 10. As per the agreement, IAI will provide maintenance services for six CFM56-5B engines equipped on Bamboo Airways’ A321 aircraft in 2024-2025. Additionally, IAI will lease a CFM56-5B engine to the airline for a period of two years, starting from 2024.
This contract with IAI is aligned with Bamboo Airways’ strategy to focus on the Airbus A320/A321 narrow-body aircraft family. Mr. Nam expressed confidence in IAI’s global reputation and their ability to provide advanced technical solutions, meeting the stringent requirements for aircraft engine maintenance and repair. He believes that IAI’s professional maintenance services will enhance the quality and reliability of Bamboo Airways’ fleet.

On June 25, Bamboo Airways welcomed its third wet-leased Airbus A320 aircraft, with the registration RP-C9799, which landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. This addition is part of their efforts to increase capacity in the domestic aviation market. Since the beginning of 2024, Bamboo Airways has leased two Airbus A320 aircraft to cater to the rising travel demand, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year peak season.
Mr. Nam emphasized that domestic airfare prices can only stabilize and offer more low-cost seats when Vietnamese airlines increase their fleet size. Currently, the total number of aircraft operated by all airlines in Vietnam is around 160, a significant decrease from pre-pandemic levels. To address this, Bamboo Airways has been actively negotiating with global partners to expand its fleet.
The airline plans to lease one more aircraft by the end of the year to introduce new domestic routes such as Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat, Thanh Hoa, and Phu Quoc, providing more travel options for passengers.
This consistent fleet expansion is a testament to Bamboo Airways’ stable and promising recovery.
