Accordingly, in May 2021, the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security issued Decisions No. 18 and 19 on receiving and handling reports and crime tips regarding 10 investment projects in Binh Thuan Province.

The Investigation Agency has also decided to initiate a criminal case and prosecute the accused in the Phan Thiet Beach Tourism Urban Area project.

For the remaining projects, the Investigation Agency is in the process of collecting documents and working with the provincial departments but has not yet reached a conclusion.

The remaining projects under investigation include: The Mũi Né Outdoor Tourism Area project, the Xuan Quynh Tourism Area project in Mũi Né ward, the Sea Links Mũi Né project, the Duc Long Beach Reclamation project, the Hung Long Lake Complex project, the urban planning and commercial services project, the Le Quy Don Kindergarten project in Phu Thuy ward, and the construction of a sea wall to prevent beach erosion in Duc Long ward. Some of these projects are legally entangled due to controversial land allocations without auctions.

According to the Binh Thuan Province Department of Planning and Investment, last May, Binh Thuan Province registered to work with the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security and proposed an early conclusion regarding the remaining projects.

If the implementation of the projects does not violate criminal law, the Binh Thuan People’s Committee should be notified so that they can direct the competent units to consider and resolve them in accordance with regulations.

Previously, the Investigation Agency had initiated prosecutions and arrested many leaders, former leaders, and officials in Binh Thuan Province related to irregularities in the Tan Viet Phat 2 and Phan Thiet Beach Tourism Urban Area projects.
