Offering Textbooks at the Lowest Possible Prices
For reprinted textbooks (grades 1–4, 6–8, 10, and 11), the Education Publishing House has reviewed related cost items, especially manuscript organization costs and distribution costs, to reduce textbook prices.
As a result, the new cover prices of the reprinted textbooks, effective from the 2024-2025 academic year, will be lower than in previous years. Specifically, the cover price of the “Connecting Knowledge with Life” textbook series will be reduced by 9.6%, while the “Creative Horizons” series will see an 11.2% decrease.
Regarding the prices of textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12, the publishing house has set the prices based on the reduced structure of the reprinted textbook prices.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, this is a significant effort by the entire Education Publishing House system to offer textbooks at the lowest possible prices, with the aim of supporting teachers and students and ensuring social welfare.
The textbook prices for the upcoming school year have been declared by the Education Publishing House to the Price Management Department of the Ministry of Finance, in accordance with regulations.
To ensure accuracy, transparency, and protection of students’ and users’ rights, the new textbook prices have been publicly displayed at all textbook sales points nationwide, on the publishing house’s comprehensive information website (at www.nxbgd.vn), and through various mass media channels as per regulations.
Additionally, to provide learning and teaching resources for students and teachers to share in school libraries, during the 2024-2025 academic year, the Education Publishing House plans to donate approximately 1,000 sets of shared textbooks to elementary and secondary schools in difficult, remote, border, and island areas across the country. The total cover price of these donations is estimated at VND 30 billion. In the previous academic year, the publishing house had already implemented a program to donate 1,000 sets of shared textbooks to elementary schools in challenging areas nationwide.
Fulfilling Our Duty to Education and Society
The Chairman of the Members’ Council and Director of the Education Publishing House Limited Company shared that when he first assumed his position in May 2024, he immediately faced the reality of the final sprint as the entire publishing house system, including the four regional education publishing houses and 38 member companies, strained every nerve to print, publish, distribute, and train teachers on the new textbooks in time for the new school year. “I initially felt the heat, pressure, and hardship of creating educational books in general and textbooks in particular,” said Mr. Thanh.

During his first days on the job, Mr. Thanh also heard touching stories about the textbook compilation process. On numerous occasions, the entire publishing house team had to work through the night, even forgoing lunch breaks, to successfully create the “Connecting Knowledge with Life” and “Creative Horizons” series during the curriculum and textbook renewal period according to Resolution 88/2014 of the National Assembly.
These textbook series cover all subjects and educational activities as stipulated by the curriculum, and they include various types of educational books and materials of high quality, as directed by the Ministry of Education and Training. They are affordable and of excellent quality, earning the trust of students and teachers nationwide.
With a proud 67-year history, the Education Publishing House, as Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh shared, has seen three to four generations of dedicated officers, editors, authors, and staff passionately committed to creating educational books—a rewarding yet challenging endeavor. Together, they have built a reputable publishing house that consistently fulfills its duty to education and society while also leading the publishing market in terms of both prestige and output.
Director Nguyen Tien Thanh also shared that throughout its historical journey, even during the most turbulent times, the Education Publishing House, as the only publishing house in the country to pilot the model of a combined parent-subsidiary company with four regional education publishing houses and 38 member companies, has always excelled in its business performance, preserving state capital while ensuring revenue growth and profit. The company has also successfully carried out its political tasks and served the community and the cause of education.
Mr. Thanh once again affirmed the effectiveness of the Education Publishing House’s efforts in reducing textbook prices and diversifying its educational product offerings. These endeavors have ensured both the goal of growth and the fulfillment of political tasks, always striving for community-oriented values.
