The MG3, a small hatchback, has been introduced in Asia, specifically in Indonesia, following its release in the European market. The hybrid MG model will be available for purchase in November 2024 as a single variant with a suggested retail price of 203,34 million Rupiah (approximately 321 million VND).
This new MG3 has dimensions of 4,113 mm in length, 1,797 mm in width, and 1,502 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. Compared to its predecessor, it is 95 mm longer, 69 mm wider, and 5 mm lower, while the wheelbase has increased by 50 mm.
The MG3 Hybrid 2024 made its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024.
The MG3 Hybrid is equipped with a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.5L inline-four Atkinson cycle engine producing 101 horsepower and 128 Nm of torque. This engine is assisted by an electric motor that adds an extra 134 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The combined output of this hybrid powertrain is an impressive 191 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission.
The electric motor in the MG3 Hybrid draws its energy from a 1.83 kWh battery paired with an engine-mounted generator. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in eight seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. Its fuel efficiency is rated at 4.4 l/100 km, and it emits 100 g/km of CO2 in the combined cycle.
The new MG3 hatchback is now available in Europe and select Asian countries like Indonesia and Thailand.
Inside, the MG3 Hybrid features a similar cabin to its European counterpart, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster above the steering column.
Safety features include Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Cruise Control, and Forward Collision Warning. The car also offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system, four USB ports, rear parking sensors and camera, leather seats, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera.

The MG3 Hybrid 2024 will be available in Indonesia from November onwards in a single variant.
In addition to Indonesia, the hybrid model is expected to be launched in Thailand as early as August this year. While there is no official word on the pricing in Thailand yet, the starting price is estimated to be around 500,000 baht, which is roughly 350 million VND.
