Samsung is facing a significant brand crisis following allegations that its latest products are mimicking Apple’s designs. Specifically, devices such as the Galaxy Buds3, Galaxy Buds3 Pro, and Galaxy Watch Ultra have drawn criticism for bearing striking resemblances to Apple’s AirPods, AirPods Pro, and Apple Watch Ultra, respectively.

In response to these claims, Samsung’s Chairman, Lee Jae-yong, has ordered an investigation and restructuring of the mobile division. According to AjuNews, Lee Jae-yong was reportedly furious upon hearing that Samsung was being accused of copying its competitor’s designs.

Galaxy Watch Ultra: A Striking Similarity?

An insider revealed: “Chairman Lee directly intervened after the Apple design copying incident and quality issues related to the Buds3 and Galaxy Watch7 series were exposed. The work atmosphere in the mobile division is currently very tense.”

During a press conference held at the Samsung Store Hongdae, journalists relentlessly questioned the similarities between Samsung’s and Apple’s products, indicating public interest in Samsung’s apparent “learning” from its rival.

Galaxy Buds3 Pro: A Case of Copying?

The resemblance of the Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro to the AirPods, along with similar control gestures, has left many long-time Samsung fans disappointed. The square design and prominent orange color of the Galaxy Watch Ultra also evoke comparisons to the Apple Watch Ultra.

Compounding Samsung’s challenges are quality issues with some Galaxy Buds3 Pro earphones, which have been found to have gaps and prone-to-tearing eartips. This situation has further exacerbated the crisis, prompting Chairman Lee Jae-yong to call for a thorough investigation.
