Vietnam’s motorcycle market continues to face a gloomy outlook from the beginning of the year, forcing dealers and manufacturers to offer price cuts and gifts to attract buyers and boost sales. Especially, at the beginning of August 2024, a new entrant joined the market race with a huge discount of up to 44 million VND.
At some Yamaha Town motorcycle dealers in Hanoi, the YZF R3 is being offered at only 90 million VND, a discount of 42 million VND from the original price of 132 million VND. Meanwhile, in Ho Chi Minh City, the publicly offered price for the R3 is 88.3 million VND (a discount of 43.7 million VND from the listed price).
According to some dealers, this rare deep discount is to clear inventory and sell off existing stocks to prepare for the upcoming launch of the new Yamaha R3. Depending on the dealer, customers may also receive a free helmet, oil change voucher, and more.

The Yamaha YZF-R3 was officially introduced to the Vietnamese market in September 2015. It has overall dimensions of 2,090mm in length, 718mm in width, and 1,135mm in height, with a seat height of just 780mm.
The headlight cluster features two slanted eyes that sweep diagonally to the rear, creating a distinct, sharp, and powerful look. Both front and rear wheels are 17-inch, 10-spoke alloys optimized for stiffness and strength. The tires are sized 110/70-17 for the front and 140/70-70 for the rear.
Notable features of the Yamaha R3 include LED headlights, a full monochrome LCD screen, USD front forks, a single-coil rear shock absorber, dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS), front disc brakes with a diameter of 298 mm, and rear disc brakes of 220 mm for stronger and safer braking performance.
Powering the motorcycle is a 321cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, inline 2-cylinder, DOHC engine with electronic fuel injection. With a piston diameter and stroke of 68mm x 44.1mm and a compression ratio of 11.2:1, the engine delivers a maximum output of 42 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and maximum torque of 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm.
