The Cau Cay Kho Bridge construction began in 2018, with a total investment of approximately VND 500 billion, managed by the Management Board of Investment and Construction in Nha Be District. The project was initially expected to be completed by 2023 but faced delays due to land clearance issues.

According to VTC News, the Cau Cay Kho Bridge project is approximately 485 meters long and 12.5 meters wide, with two lanes connecting Pham Hung Street in Binh Chanh District to Nguyen Binh Street in Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City. The project has currently reached over 98% completion.

Observations show that the main items of the Cau Cay Kho Bridge construction have been formed and are in the completion process. Specifically, the bridge surface has been painted with lane markings, and the pedestrian sidewalks have been completed.

The Cau Cay Kho Bridge’s railing has been installed and is more than 98% complete.

The sidewalk pavement is also in the process of being tiled.

At the Cau Cay Kho Bridge project, the pedestrian bridge installed near Nguyen Binh Street has been completed, facilitating the movement of local residents.

The Cau Cay Kho Bridge has 10 pillars and two abutments, standing about 5 meters above the road. Currently, the construction unit is paving asphalt and planting trees under the bridge pillars to create a landscape.

The clearance height of the Cau Cay Kho Bridge is designed to be 7 meters high, allowing convenient passage for boats and ships.

Observations also noted that some items are still in the ‘rush’ construction process, such as the installation of retaining walls, streetlights, and asphalt paving on connecting roads.

The construction unit is finalizing the last items of the roundabout connecting the approach roads to Nguyen Binh Street, awaiting asphalt paving.

Even though the bridge is about to open to traffic, there is still a 1km section of Pham Hung Street in Binh Chanh District leading to the Cau Cay Kho Bridge that has not been upgraded and widened, resulting in a lack of synchronization.

Once completed, the Cau Cay Kho Bridge project will facilitate the travel of residents in Nha Be and Binh Chanh districts, shortening their travel distance. People in these areas will no longer have to rely on ferries or take a long detour of almost 10km.
Phuoc Loc Commune, Nha Be District, is located about 10km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Phuoc Loc Commune is currently separated by three canals: Hiep An, Long Kien, and Ong Lon, making trade and transportation in the area challenging.
If traveling by road, residents have to take a 10km detour along the route from Dao Su Tich Street (east bank of Ong Lon Canal) → Le Van Luong → Nguyen Huu Tho → Nguyen Van Linh → Pham Hung → Nguyen Van Rang (west bank of Ong Lon Canal).
For waterway transportation, residents have to take a ferry at Hamlet 3, which can carry about 12 people per trip, with a travel time of 10-20 minutes.
