SPONSOR EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT OVER MISS GRAND 2024 RESULTS

Miss Grand Vietnam 2024 came to a close with the crowning of the new queen, Võ Lê Quế Anh from Quảng Nam. The first runner-up was Lê Phan Hạnh Nguyên, followed by Vũ Thị Thu Hiền as second runner-up, Lâm Thị Bích Tuyền as third runner-up, and Phạm Thị Ánh Vương as fourth runner-up.

However, the results sparked controversy as many believed that the new queen, Quế Anh, did not perform convincingly, especially in the question-and-answer portion where she stumbled and gave lackluster responses.

In protest of the final results, a group of netizens took to the competition’s Fanpage to express their “anger” by flooding the page with angry reactions. They even created a group called “Anti Hoa Hậu Sen Vàng,” which now has 22,000 members. Unverified information about the new queen has also been spreading on social media, prompting the organizers to continuously issue clarifications.

Recently, CEO Hoàng Thanh Nga, the representative of the crown sponsor for Miss Grand Vietnam 2024, went live to share her thoughts on the competition’s outcome. She stated that she had predicted Thiên Hương and Nam Anh to be in the Top 5. However, their early exit at the Top 15 came as a shock and disappointment to the crown sponsor.

When they announced the top 10, I was stunned and got a headache. I felt that some of the girls in the Top 10 were weak, with nothing special about their looks or answers. I was upset and immediately messaged dì Dung to ask why Thiên Hương and Nam Anh were out of the top 10. She took me outside and explained, but she didn’t say much, and I was so frustrated that I didn’t even care about the Top 5, the queen, or the runners-up. If it had been the Top 5 I predicted, it would have been great,” said CEO Hoàng Thanh Nga.

Furthermore, CEO Hoàng Thanh Nga made a noteworthy statement about her future involvement. “I don’t know if I’ll sponsor again next year; I never promised anything. I just said I’d sponsor as long as I could because it’s exhausting. This year, I’m sad that the joy of the crown didn’t last long before it started giving me a headache,” shared the crown sponsor.

THE ‘FLOWER QUEEN’ EMPIRE

“Dì Dung,” mentioned earlier by the crown sponsor, is Ms. Phạm Thị Kim Dung, General Director of Sen Vang Trading and Advertising JSC, the organizer of Miss Grand Vietnam 2024. Ms. Dung is known as the “beauty pageant tycoon.” While her company is involved in various sectors, such as loudspeakers, radio, film production, and television programs, organizing beauty pageants is their main focus and the source of their reputation.

Sen Vang is the company that collaborated with Tiền Phong Newspaper to organize the prestigious Hoa Hậu Việt Nam pageant in 2014, 2016, and 2018. They then took a step further by partnering with Elite Vietnam to establish Sen Vang Entertainment JSC and officially acquire the rights to several international beauty contests.

Sen Vang now permanently holds the rights to send Vietnamese representatives to ten of the most prestigious beauty pageants globally, including Miss World, Miss Grand International, Miss Supranational, and Miss Asia Pacific World.

The company manages beauty queens such as Nguyễn Thúc Thuỳ Tiên, Đỗ Mỹ Linh, Ngô Thanh Thanh Tú, Diễm Trang, and several other runners-up, semi-finalists, and contestants.

Sen Vang Trading and Advertising JSC was established in August 2006, with its head office in Bình Thạnh District, Ho Chi Minh City. In October 2019, the company reduced its charter capital to 50 billion VND, and the shareholder structure remains undisclosed.

Previously, Sen Vang had a charter capital of 150 billion VND and five shareholders, with Ms. Dung holding 89%, Đỗ Mỹ Linh holding 5%, and the remaining 2% divided among three individuals: Dương Đình Nam, Nguyễn Thị Nam Phương, and Hoàng Hữu Nhật Nam.
