Geely, a prominent Chinese automotive manufacturer, has unveiled its newest creation – the Galaxy E5 SUV. This electric vehicle boasts innovative technologies, including the cutting-edge Aegis Short Blade LFP battery and the intelligent infotainment system, Flyme Auto, developed by Meizu.

The highlight of the launch event was the announcement of the Galaxy E5’s competitive pricing, ranging from 112,800 to 148,800 Chinese yuan (approximately $17,600 to $23,200). Offered in eight exterior colors, including red, pink, gray, green, white, silver, black, and blue, the Galaxy E5 is set to make a stylish impression on the market.

With dimensions of 4,615 x 1,901 x 1,670 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, the Galaxy E5 rivals the size of popular SUVs such as the Honda CR-V. Its lightweight yet sturdy construction, achieved through the integration of the battery into the vehicle body, contributes to a well-balanced weight distribution and enhanced handling.

Aerodynamic excellence is evident in the Galaxy E5’s design, with a drag coefficient of just 0.269 Cd. The vehicle is equipped with aerodynamically designed wheels and 235/50 R19 tires, contributing to its sleek and efficient performance. Built upon the GEA architecture, which builds on the strengths of the SEA platform, the Galaxy E5 incorporates a 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles, enhancing handling and stability.

The Galaxy E5 also introduces the cutting-edge Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent steering system, exclusive to Geely. Additionally, the vehicle features innovative hidden door handles, ensuring reliable performance in all weather conditions. Geely plans to share this technology with the entire automotive industry, showcasing their commitment to innovation and collaboration.

Step inside the Galaxy E5, and you’ll find a spacious and technologically advanced cabin. A prominent center control display, a digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display (HUD) enhance the driving experience. Higher-end models pamper occupants with a 16-speaker audio system, including bed speakers, and the integration of Flyme Auto, mirroring the smartphone experience. Under the hood, the Galaxy E5 is powered by China’s 7 nm Dragon Eagle One processor, delivering seamless performance.

Offering an impressive 4.03 square meters of interior space, the Galaxy E5 provides exceptional practicality with 33 storage compartments, including additional drawers beneath the rear air vents and a spacious compartment under the rear seats.

In early 2025, Geely will introduce Flyme Auto system updates for the Galaxy L7 and L6 models through wireless software upgrades, ensuring that their vehicles remain at the forefront of technology.

Under the hood, the Galaxy E5 delivers impressive performance with a maximum motor output of 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. Two battery configurations are available: a 49.52 kWh pack offering a range of 440 km, and a larger 60.22 kWh option providing a substantial 530 km of range.

As one of China’s largest private automotive manufacturers, Geely, owned by billionaire Li Shufu (known as Eric Li in English), has made significant strides in the new energy vehicle market. In 2023, the group’s new energy brands collectively sold 980,000 vehicles, reflecting a remarkable 51% year-on-year growth. Geely and Zeekr, two of their prominent brands, ranked among the top 10 best-selling electric car brands in China. Currently, the group has a presence in Vietnam through its Lynk & Co. brand.
