The number of new accounts opened in July was over 2.6 times higher than the average for the first six months of the year. This was also the highest number of new accounts opened in the past two years, since June 2022.

The increase in the number of accounts was mainly driven by domestic individual investors. Specifically, this group opened 329.8 thousand accounts, accounting for 99.8% of the total new accounts opened in July.

After the first seven months of the year, the stock market has welcomed over 1 million new accounts.

As of July 31, individual accounts held 99.4% of the total accounts in the Vietnamese stock market.

The strong growth in the number of stock accounts contrasts with the market performance. In July, the VN-Index fell by 1.5% to 1,226.96 points. Average trading volume on the HOSE reached nearly VND 17,000 billion, down over 22% compared to the average in the first six months.
