At exactly 8 am this morning, the first train departed from both ends of the waiting stations at Nhon and Cau Giay, marking the official start of commercial operations on the route.

Even before the official operating hours, passengers were already waiting at the station, eager to board the train for its inaugural journey.

At Cau Giay Station, passengers filled both sides of the concourse, awaiting the train’s arrival.

The carriages on the first trains were almost full, with many passengers standing.

For the first 15 days of operation, the Nhon – Hanoi Station train will distribute free tokens (coins) to passengers for travel.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Railway Management Board (investor), was also among the first passengers on the train this morning. He chatted with fellow passengers and answered their questions.

In an interview with Tien Phong, Mr. Son shared that during the first 15 days, the train will operate with a frequency of one train every 10 minutes, and rides will be free of charge.

Starting at 8 am on August 8, 2024, the 8.5-kilometer elevated section from Nhon to S8 Station (Cau Giay) of the Urban Railway Line No. 3, Nhon – Hanoi Station, officially commenced commercial operations, serving passengers.

The elevated section from Nhon to Cau Giay has 8 stations for passenger embarkation and disembarkation, including: Nhon (S1); Minh Khai (S2); Phu Dien (S3); Cau Dien (S4); Le Duc Tho (S5); Dai Hoc Quoc Gia (S6); Chua Ha (S7); and Cau Giay (S8). “For the first three months, the operating hours will be from 5:30 am to 10:00 pm, with a train frequency of one train every 10 minutes. On the first day of operation, the service will begin at 8:00 am. Subsequently, the schedule may be adjusted based on passenger demand to best meet their needs,” MRB announced.

To facilitate access and provide a trial period for Hanoi residents, the investor offered free rides for prioritized groups for the first 15 days of commercial operation. All passengers were served free of charge during this introductory period.

Regarding ticket prices after the free trial, MRB shared that a single-journey ticket (valid for one station) costs VND 8,000, while a ticket for the entire line is priced at VND 12,000. A day pass, valid for unlimited rides within a day, costs VND 24,000. Monthly passes are available at VND 200,000 for regular passengers and VND 100,000 for students. Group tickets are also offered at VND 140,000 per month.

To ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers using the Nhon – Hanoi Station train, MRB has collaborated with the Hanoi Transportation Management and Operation Center to enhance connectivity and passenger transfer by bus. Along the Nhon – Hanoi Station urban railway line, there are currently 36 bus routes in operation, including 33 subsidized routes and 3 non-subsidized routes. Two passenger transfer hubs are located at Cau Giay and Nhon, with 32 bus stops along the route (16 stops from Cau Giay to Nhon and 16 stops from Nhon to Cau Giay).
