Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Training Committee, receives the US Ambassador to Vietnam, Marc Knapper

Recalling the achievements of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially since the historic visit of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the US in July 2015 and President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam in September 2023, Mr. Nghia proposed that the US continue to support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources in the semiconductor industry and creating favorable conditions for cooperation between universities, technology institutes, and trade organizations of the two countries, including the Vietnam National Innovation Center.

Mr. Nghia affirmed that Vietnam always considers the US a strategic partner of great importance and that the relationship between the two countries has entered a new, positive, and promising chapter. He also expressed his hope that the Ambassador and the US Embassy in Vietnam will continue to serve as a bridge to promote party-channel relations, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and trust, thereby further developing the stable, substantive, and profound relationship between the two countries based on the agreed principles of respecting each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political regime.

Overview of the meeting

Ambassador Marc Knapper said that agencies and ministries of the two countries are working closely to realize the Joint Statement of the high-level leaders on upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as to concretize the Plan of Action to implement the Statement. In the coming time, it is hoped that the two sides will have many activities to deepen the achieved results and continue to promote areas with much potential for cooperation.

At the meeting, Mr. Nghia and Ambassador Knapper agreed that 2025 is a year of great significance, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification, the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US normalization of relations, and an opportunity for the two countries to jointly acknowledge the long strides made, from historical depth to the present, and towards the future. They affirmed that the good relationship between the two countries stems from the legitimate aspirations of the peoples of the two countries and is the realization of the vision, goals, and efforts of the leaders of both countries, in history and in modern times. The Vietnam-US relationship will be a driving force for prosperity and security in one of the most important regions in the world, for peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development.
