Amid a global shortage of aircraft and rising travel demand, Vietjet is expected to receive 10 new aircraft by the end of 2024, adding to its modern fleet. This move aims to meet the growing needs of passengers and tourists across domestic and international routes.
According to the airline, the new aircraft, mostly A321neo ACF—the most modern aircraft from Airbus, will be delivered starting August 2024. Notably, Vietjet was the first airline globally to operate the A321neo ACF (Airbus Cabin Flex) back in 2019.
The A321neo ACF features an improved cabin design, ensuring spacious and comfortable seating for passengers. Additionally, these aircraft are highly fuel-efficient, reducing fuel consumption by a minimum of 16%, and significantly reducing noise and emissions by up to 75% and 50%, respectively.
Vietjet has also recently signed a contract to purchase 20 new A330neo wide-body aircraft from Airbus, valued at USD 7.4 billion. Passengers can soon look forward to flying on these new A330neo aircraft, offering longer, safer, and more comfortable journeys.
Currently, Vietjet operates a fleet of over 100 aircraft, including advanced and modern models such as the A320, A321ceo, A321neo – A321neo ACF, and A330, with a focus on environmental protection and fuel efficiency. The airline aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Vietjet has carried 200 million passengers, including millions who flew for the first time.
In the first half of 2024, Vietjet transported 13.1 million passengers and operated 70,154 safe flights. The airline recorded consolidated revenue of VND 34,016 billion and a pre-tax profit of VND 1,311 billion in the same period, a growth of 15% and 433%, respectively, compared to the previous year, exceeding its plan by 21%. Vietjet contributed VND 3,687 billion in taxes, fees, and other charges to the state budget in the first six months of 2024.
With the addition of these 10 new aircraft by the end of 2024, Vietjet will continue to expand its network in Vietnam and internationally, with new destinations in Australia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, and beyond. The airline is committed to providing enjoyable and happy flying experiences with its professional and dedicated crew, connecting nations, continents, and cultures, fostering economic development, and promoting cultural exchanges and tourism.
