On August 9, a Ministry of Industry and Trade delegation, led by Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, worked with Binh Dinh province on the situation of industrial production and trade, and the implementation of national industry planning in the fields of energy and minerals in the area.

Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Binh Dinh Party Committee, said that the province has been developing evenly across the three pillars of agriculture, industry, and trade-services, especially tourism, with industry as the top priority, although the proportion of industry in the economic structure remains low.

“Binh Dinh has now become a bright spot in tourism, an attractive destination. The province is determined to develop and be among the leading provinces in the Central region,” Mr. Dung shared.

According to Mr. Dung, the biggest difficulty for Binh Dinh at present is that it has not yet attracted large-scale industrial projects. The province has not yet found a leading enterprise to create a growth spur for the province.

At the meeting, the Binh Dinh People’s Committee requested that the Ministry of Industry and Trade support the province in promoting and facilitating economic corporations to invest in key projects, creating a driving force for Binh Dinh’s development, such as a semiconductor and electronic component manufacturing plant, a green hydrogen production plant, a pharmaceutical and drug production plant, and a high-tech insulin drug production plant according to GMP-EU standards.

It is proposed to consider establishing a C/O office in Binh Dinh province to facilitate import and export businesses in the province and neighboring provinces in applying for certificates of origin, reducing travel time and costs.

According to the leaders of Binh Dinh province, the province currently has the PNE Group (Germany) registered to research and survey the investment project of the Hon Tra Offshore Wind Power Plant with a capacity of 2,000MW. The province proposed that the Ministry consider adjusting and supplementing the project with a pilot capacity of 750MW registered by the PNE Group for investment in the draft proposal on the pilot development of offshore wind power constructed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that the Ministry will accompany Binh Dinh province in matters within its authority.

The Minister of Industry and Trade requested the province to review and promptly adjust the planning to suit the national planning, regional planning, and national industry planning, as well as adjust the land use plan for the term to be ready to receive investment projects.

Regarding the Hon Tra offshore wind power project, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien requested the units of the Ministry and related agencies to support Binh Dinh province in the direction of suggesting linking with one of the economic groups of the State of Vietnam. On the other hand, it is also proposed to the Government to pilot a foreign group to invest here.
