The Vietnamese stock market on August 9th witnessed a dominant green hue across the board right from the opening bell. The upward momentum was further extended towards the end of the trading session thanks to the participation of various large-cap stocks, typically securities and banking stocks. At the closing bell, the VN-Index rose 15.32 points (+1.27%) to 1,223.64. Trading liquidity on HoSE remained low, with the matched order value reaching approximately VND 12,800 billion.
Foreign investors’ net buying was a bright spot, with a net buy value of over VND 51 billion across the entire market today.

Foreign investors net bought VND 56 billion on HoSE
In terms of net bought value, the foreign investors’ top two picks on HoSE were FPT and MWG, with net bought values of VND 159 billion and VND 145 billion, respectively. CTG came next with a net bought value of over VND 100 billion, while VCI and VNM were net bought in the range of VND 49-60 billion.
On the other side, VJC faced the strongest net selling pressure with an unexpected net sold value of VND 405 billion. TCB was also offloaded by foreign investors with a net sold value of around VND 100 billion. VCB, STB, and VHM witnessed net selling pressure of a few dozen billion VND each.

Foreign investors net sold VND 22 billion on HNX
On the buying side, MBS was the largest net bought stock with a net bought value of VND 13 billion. Additionally, foreign investors also net bought a few billion VND worth of IDC, SHS, and CEO shares.
Conversely, PVS faced the strongest net selling pressure from foreign investors with a net sold value of nearly VND 25 billion. Following that, VCS, TNG, DTD, and BVS experienced net selling pressure of a few billion VND each.

Foreign investors net bought VND 17 billion on UPCOM
In terms of net bought value, ACV led the pack with a net bought value of VND 22 billion. MCH, HPP, BCR, and a few other stocks were also mildly net bought.
On the opposite side, QNS witnessed net selling pressure of nearly VND 5 billion from foreign investors. Additionally, stocks like VAB, VOC, and VHG were also net sold by foreign investors.
