On August 12, authorities in Bao Lam District, Lam Dong Province, decided to prosecute Do Cong Nguyen (48, residing in Loc Thang town) and Phi Dinh Dung (52, Hoai Duc commune, Lam Ha District) for tax evasion.

Both accused have been released but are prohibited from leaving their places of residence. Previously, Nguyen was also prosecuted for bribery.

According to the initial investigation, in 2021, Nguyen established a real estate business and served as its director. He then colluded with Dung to use multiple schemes to circumvent the law in creating accounting records, land transfer documents, and real estate project dossiers to reduce tax payments.

Also in 2021, when the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment implemented measurement, rectification of changes, creation of land maps, land registration, and land use right certificates in Loc Thang town, Nguyen bribed Le Van Sang and Do Ngoc Chau (former Head and Deputy Head of the Database Department at the Technical Center). for Geo-Information Technology under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment).

The bribery was intended to update and rectify the formation of a road to a land lot owned by Nguyen in Bao Lam District.
