On August 14th, Mr. Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Soc Trang province, issued a document to relevant departments regarding the implementation of key projects following an inspection on August 12th. One of the inspected projects was the progress of Component Project 4 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway Phase 1, a key economic development route.
While the projects have not yet met their planned targets, the involved units have proactively proposed solutions to accelerate construction in the coming months.
To expedite the construction of key projects and achieve over 95% disbursement of the annual public investment plan, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Soc Trang province has instructed the Project Management Unit 2 to urgently coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs and relevant units to advise the provincial People’s Committee on launching a 15-day high-point emulation movement, “15 days and nights to accelerate the construction of Component Project 4, celebrating the National Day on September 2nd.”
Regarding the East-West Economic Development Route project, the Chairman proposed that the units and contractors ensure basic traffic flow by December 31st, 2024.
For Component Project 4 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway, the provincial leader requested the Soc Trang Power Company to coordinate with Project Management Unit 2 to inspect and develop a plan to relocate medium and low-voltage power lines to facilitate the construction of bridges in My Xuyen and Tran De districts.
The Chairman also instructed the contractors to revise the construction schedule, promptly gather personnel, equipment, and supplies as soon as the foundation is ready, and organize construction in “3 shifts and 4 teams” to make up for the previous delays.
The Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway Phase 1 has a scale of four lanes with a total investment of VND 44,691 billion from the state budget. The project is divided into four component projects, with each province or city as the investor: Component Project 1, over 57 km, invested by An Giang; Component Project 2, over 37 km, invested by Can Tho; Component Project 3, nearly 37 km, invested by Hau Giang; and Component Project 4, nearly 57 km, invested by Soc Trang.
