On August 14th, the city of Di An inaugurated and opened to traffic the East-West Main Road, a project connecting Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces with key infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City, including the new Mien Dong Bus Station and the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line.
The East-West Main Road project begins at National Highway 1 in Binh Duong province, passing through the Ring Road of the University Village (the urban area of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City) and ending at the new Mien Dong Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City. The project, with a total investment of nearly VND 730 billion, was commenced in March 2021.
The road is over 3 km long and 32 meters wide, featuring six lanes, a complete drainage system, and well-designed lighting and greenery. However, there is still an unresolved issue of a 50-meter section that couldn’t be cleared, hindering the connection to Hanoi Highway and affecting the city’s aesthetics.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Vo Trong Tai, Vice Chairman of the Di An People’s Committee, explained that the 50-meter section couldn’t be connected to Hanoi Highway because it falls within the scope of the Hanoi Highway expansion project, for which Ho Chi Minh City is the investor.
According to Mr. Tai, the 50-meter expansion section of Hanoi Highway has now been handed over to the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province, and the province has agreed to adjust the project to allow Di An city to construct the remaining 50 meters without waiting for the completion of the Hanoi Highway expansion project.
The authorities of Di An city are in the process of reviewing the compensation and site clearance records of the Hanoi Highway expansion project. In cases where compensation has been received, the locality will provide additional compensation for any uncompensated assets. For cases where land has not been compensated, compensation will be based on the current land price framework.
The estimated cost for compensation and construction is VND 100 billion. There are still over 30 cases related to asset and land compensation, totaling about 1.4 hectares. The plan is to complete the site clearance by September and achieve the connection to National Highway 1 and the new Mien Dong Bus Station by the end of this year.
Mr. Pham Van Bay, Vice Chairman of the Di An People’s Committee, stated that as one of the central urban areas and the most dynamic and bustling region in Binh Duong province, Di An city has achieved remarkable success over the past 25 years. It has become a prominent destination for investment and industrial and urban development in the province, attracting people from all over the country to settle and live.
According to Mr. Bay, Di An city has focused on investing in infrastructure and transportation to keep up with the rapid economic development and urbanization. The inauguration of the East-West Main Road is a testament to these efforts and will further enhance inter-regional economic connectivity and trade.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Di An’s development, in addition to the East-West Main Road, the city also announced the completion of several other key projects, including the Tan Dong Hiep B Secondary School, the Bui Thi Xuan Primary School, and the headquarters of the People’s Committee of Tan Binh ward and Tan Dong Hiep ward.
Additionally, the city broke ground on the renovation and construction of the headquarters of the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front of Di An ward, as well as the Binh Thang Secondary School, with a total investment of nearly VND 230 billion.
These infrastructure developments are expected to further enhance the city’s attractiveness for investment and contribute to its sustainable development.
