The Cao Lanh – An Huu Expressway’s Component 2 project spans a total length of approximately 11.43 kilometers, with 3.81 kilometers passing through Dong Thap Province and 7.62 kilometers through Tien Giang Province. The People’s Committee of Tien Giang Province is the investor for this project.
The project’s starting point is at the intersection with Component 1 of the Cao Lanh – An Huu Expressway, at Km16 in My Hiep commune, Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap Province. It ends at Km98+950 on the Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway, approximately 1.8 kilometers from the An Thai Trung interchange in An Thai Trung commune, Cai Be district, Tien Giang Province.
Component 2 of the Cao Lanh – An Huu Expressway is under the management of the People’s Committee of Tien Giang Province.
In its first phase, the project will feature four limited-access expressway lanes, each measuring 3.5 meters in width, resulting in a road width of 17 meters. The operational speed for this phase is designed to be 80 kilometers per hour. In the completed phase, the expressway will also have four lanes, but each lane will be widened to 3.75 meters, resulting in a road width of 24.75 meters. The operational speed will be increased to 100 kilometers per hour. This project is funded by the state budget, with a total investment of approximately VND 3,856 billion, including land clearance costs of VND 1,255 billion. The construction is scheduled to take place from 2022 to 2027.
To make way for the construction of Component 2 of the An Huu – Cao Lanh Expressway, 665 households in the two provinces of Dong Thap and Tien Giang (188 in Dong Thap and 477 in Tien Giang) will need to be relocated, affecting an area of over 83 hectares.
The project requires approximately 0.95 million cubic meters of sand for foundation filling and loading. Of this amount, 300,000 cubic meters will be sourced from Dong Thap Province for the section within its jurisdiction. The remaining sand requirement of about 650,000 cubic meters is expected to be sourced from mines in Cai Be district, Tien Giang Province.
