On August 15, 2024, hundreds of workers from Vinh Loc Industrial Park in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, flocked to a mobile sales point on Road No. 6 to purchase essential goods at discounted prices.

Vu The Van, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Labor Union, shared that there are currently 17 industrial parks and export processing zones in the city, employing over 250,000 workers. The “Mobile Sales – Market Stabilization” program is especially beneficial to these workers, offering them access to quality products at discounted prices, which is particularly helpful for those facing financial difficulties.

Huynh Thanh My, a worker at Saigon Food Joint Stock Company, participated in this sales event and was able to purchase consumer goods at discounts of up to 50% from MM Mega Market (Vietnam)’s booth. She shared that she was able to buy bathing soap, detergent, fish sauce, cakes, and candies for just a few hundred thousand dong, resulting in a savings of up to 50% compared to market prices.

A representative from MM Mega Market (Vietnam) stated that the company is collaborating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade for the “Mobile Sales – Market Stabilization 2024” program, which runs from August 6 to September 15, 2024. During this period, the supermarket offers exclusive promotions and discounts of up to 90% on selected items, including stainless steel spoons (reduced from VND 106,000 to VND 9,000 per set), food containers (from VND 32,400 to VND 5,000 per set), plastic cutting boards (from VND 79,000 to VND 39,000 per set), cereals (from VND 169,000 to VND 79,000 per pack), and fish sauce (from VND 166,000 to VND 59,000 per bottle). MM Mega Market aims to bring essential goods at stabilized prices to low- and middle-income earners in the city.

H’Hen Niê, a beauty pageant titleholder, attended the program and expressed her support for such initiatives. She believes that there are many ways to help and support those facing difficulties in society. This program allows workers to purchase quality products at discounted prices and also receive gifts.

“Currently, some workers are facing challenges, such as reduced working hours,” she shared. “I hope that more companies will join this program, which I find very beneficial, especially with the discounted products.”

The mobile sales point at Vinh Loc Industrial Park will be open for two days, August 15 and 16, 2024, and it is the first sales point in an industrial park under the “Mobile Sales – Market Stabilization” program initiated by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade since August 6, 2024.

Le Huynh Minh Tu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, shared that the organizers offered more discounts and promotions specifically for workers in industrial parks and export processing zones. As a result, the price reductions at this sales point are more attractive than those offered at the previous three mobile sales points in residential areas.
