According to the National Assembly Office, tomorrow, on August 19, the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) will hold its 36th meeting, chaired by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, to consider and opine on law building, supervision, and other important issues. The meeting is expected to last until August 22.

In terms of law-building, the NASC will consider the following: the draft Electricity Law (amended); the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations; the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Officers of the People’s Army of Vietnam; and the explanation, adoption, and amendment of the draft Law on Air Defense and People’s Air Defense.

The NASC will also consider and decide on adding the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance and the draft Law on Disease Prevention to the law and ordinance-building program.

Regarding supervision, the NASC will consider the report of the supervision delegation and adopt a resolution on the NASC’s specialized supervision on “The implementation of policies and laws on renovating the system of organization and management, improving the quality and efficiency of public non-business units in the 2018-2023 period.” It will also consider the report on the National Assembly’s people’s aspirations work in July 2024.

At this meeting, the NASC will also opine on organizing the National Assembly Forum on supervision activities and provide comments on the draft supervision plan and outline report of the NASC delegation on “The implementation of policies and laws on developing and utilizing human resources to meet socio-economic development requirements, especially high-quality human resources.”

According to the meeting’s agenda, the NASC will organize a question-and-answer session for National Assembly deputies, lasting one and a half days (August 21 and the morning of August 22).

The first group of questions will relate to the fields of agriculture and rural development; industry and trade; natural resources and environment; culture, sports, and tourism. The second group of questions will concern the fields of justice; internal affairs; security, social order, and safety; inspection; courts; and prosecution.

Regarding important decisions, the NASC will consider and approve the Prime Minister’s proposal on the appointment of Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It will also decide on supplementing the State budget estimate for 2024 of the Ministry of Health and on the arrangement of administrative units at the district and communal levels for the 2023-2025 period for Can Tho city, Ninh Thuan province, and Phu Yen province.

Additionally, the NASC will consider and adopt a draft resolution of the NASC stipulating several contents related to resolutions on the classification of urban areas, the standards of administrative units, and the classification of administrative units, as well as the arrangement of administrative units at the district and communal levels for the 2023-2030 period, to implement the arrangement of administrative units that are urban areas for the 2023-2025 period.
