On August 15, FV Hospital, a member of Thomson Medical Group, announced a joint venture with O2 Healthcare Group from Singapore, a member of OUE Healthcare Limited, to establish a world-class Thoracic Surgery Center in Vietnam.

Dr. Jean-Marcel Guillon, CEO of FV Hospital, shared, “The Thoracic Surgery Center, co-founded by FV Hospital and O2 Healthcare Group, will provide diagnostic and surgical services for all thoracic conditions, including lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, esophageal cancer, pneumothorax, chest wall diseases, and sympathetic nerve surgery. In addition, we will collaborate with pulmonary experts in Vietnam to implement early lung cancer screening programs.”

As part of this collaboration, Dr. Su Jang Wen, a leading cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon and lung cancer specialist from O2 Healthcare Group, will provide treatment at the new center. Dr. Su has undergone advanced training in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in the United States. Out of over 7,000 lung, heart, and esophageal surgeries he has performed since 2007, 95% were done using Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) – a minimally invasive technique with incisions as small as 1.5-3 cm. Notably, Dr. Su has maintained a zero mortality rate for elective surgeries.

O2 Healthcare Group is a leading pulmonary specialty center in Singapore, with a team of 11 respiratory specialists and 2 cardiac and thoracic surgeons. The collaboration between FV Hospital and O2 Healthcare Group marks the beginning of a wave of top specialists from Singapore coming to FV Hospital to offer advanced diagnostic and treatment methods at affordable local costs.

Earlier, in July 2023, Thomson Medical Group (TMG, Singapore) acquired FV Hospital for a value of USD 381.4 million (over VND 9,000 billion), including an upfront payment of USD 359.6 million and a contingent payment of USD 21.8 million upon FV Hospital achieving certain performance milestones. This is the largest healthcare deal in Vietnam and the biggest deal in Southeast Asia recorded in 2023.
