In recent years, it has become familiar for Starbucks, a well-loved coffee brand in Vietnam, to open and close branches. However, many were surprised and saddened when the company announced the closure of one of its “legendary” stores in Ho Chi Minh City.

Specifically, the Starbucks Reserve Han Thuyen store in Ho Chi Minh City will officially close its doors on August 26, 2024. This news prompted an outpouring of sadness from netizens, especially regular customers, who expressed their dismay at losing their favorite coffee spot.

The Starbucks Reserve Han Thuyen store, which opened in 2017, was the first and only Reserve store in Ho Chi Minh City at the time. It is one of two Starbucks Reserve stores in Vietnam, with the other located on Nha Tho Street in Hanoi. This unique Starbucks model specializes in serving rare coffee beans from around the world, prepared by skilled Coffee Masters, setting it apart from other stores.

After seven years of operation, Starbucks Reserve Han Thuyen has become a favorite destination for many due to its exceptional drinks, brewing techniques, central location, and aesthetically pleasing ambiance.

Under the announcement, regular customers expressed their disappointment:

– I always visit Starbucks Han Thuyen whenever I’m in Ho Chi Minh City. It’s my go-to place.

– Why are they closing down such large and beautiful stores?

– I love Han Thuyen. I often stop by after lunch.

– This was my Sunday morning spot.

According to frequent customers, the Han Thuyen branch is centrally located and always busy. Therefore, the announcement of its closure came as a surprise to many, who wondered about the reason behind it. However, the Starbucks fan page only shared: “After careful consideration of various factors, we regret to inform you that the Starbucks Reserve Han Thuyen store will officially cease operations on August 26, 2024.” Some speculated that the reason could be the significant increase in rent for the premises, which may no longer align with the store’s criteria. Information suggests that the monthly rent for this location is as high as 750 million VND.

Starbucks also shared: “An ending is a new beginning, and Starbucks Reserve will soon return at a different location, promising to bring you even better experiences.” Eager customers now anticipate the new Reserve store in Ho Chi Minh City.
