THACO TRAILERS SEMI-TRAILERS – A STRATEGIC STEP FORWARD
Leveraging its industrial manufacturing expertise in the fields of mechanical engineering and supporting industries, while also capitalizing on market opportunities, THACO INDUSTRIES began investing in research and development of semi-trailers in 2014, supplying both the domestic market and exporting abroad.
To meet the growing demand and seize the opportunity presented by the shift in global supply chains, THACO INDUSTRIES continued to invest in technology upgrades and brand development in the following years, positioning Thaco Trailers as a leading semi-trailer manufacturer in Vietnam.
In 2022, the Group established the THACO INDUSTRIES Heavy Trailer and Components Manufacturing Company (Thaco Trailers) and invested in a new factory with an annual capacity of 30,000 units, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and automation systems that are among the most advanced in Southeast Asia. The manufacturing process is fully integrated and synchronized, encompassing parts fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and testing.
The factory utilizes laser cutting technology for all mechanical parts, ensuring high precision in the semi-trailer chassis framework. The welding line is equipped with a jig system and automatic welding robots with a reach of up to 2,200 mm, guaranteeing accurate welding from all angles and meeting quality and aesthetic standards. Following the welding process, the chassis undergoes automatic shot blasting to clean the surface to international SA-2.5 standards, followed by electrostatic dip painting (ED) in a 17-meter-long dip tank.
Subsequently, the chassis is electrostatically powder-coated using automatic spraying robots, resulting in a smooth and aesthetically pleasing finish. The semi-trailers are assembled on a fully automated monorail line, featuring an AGV component supply system and torque control throughout the process.
Quality is rigorously controlled at every stage, and before leaving the factory, the products undergo brake testing, comprehensive inspections, and real-world testing on a test track simulating diverse terrain.

Thaco Trailers offers a diverse range of product configurations, including skeletal, flatbed, box, tipper, and specialized semi-trailers, as well as semi-trailer components. These products are highly regarded by customers for their lightweight design, durability, flexible configuration options, optimized load capacity, powerful performance, stability, and low operating costs.
The Thaco Trailers semi-trailers represent not only a strategic step forward in THACO INDUSTRIES’ product expansion but also a testament to the company’s manufacturing capabilities and intrinsic value cultivated over more than 20 years of development.
REACHING GLOBAL MARKETS
After a period of investment in research and product development, Thaco Trailers exported its first batch of semi-trailers to the United States in 2020. Receiving positive feedback on product quality and meeting customer expectations, Thaco Trailers continuously improves and diversifies its product configurations, penetrating this potential market with large orders and paving the way for expansion into other North American countries, such as Canada and Mexico.
Simultaneously, Thaco Trailers continues to manufacture and supply products tailored to the needs of other markets, including Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Since 2020, Thaco Trailers has exported nearly 13,000 semi-trailers to these countries.
To enter the global arena and conquer demanding markets with high standards for quality and technical specifications, Thaco Trailers has implemented a comprehensive set of solutions. The company focuses on optimizing its resources, including manufacturing capabilities, technology, industrial management, and digital transformation, while investing significantly in R&D and partnering with reputable component suppliers worldwide. These efforts have resulted in the creation of high-quality products that meet export standards (DOT, AAR, ANSI, TOFC, F(C)MVSS, SAE, TTMA, etc.) and offer diverse configurations to match the unique requirements of each market.

Thaco Trailers is actively engaged in market research, participates in international semi-trailer exhibitions, and is working towards establishing a sales company in the US, as well as representative offices in Australia and Europe. Additionally, the company is investing in enhancing its production capabilities, R&D, and after-sales services to achieve its goals of collaborating with existing customers to increase the volume of skeletal semi-trailers in the North American market and establishing relationships with new distributors to export components and specialized semi-trailers.
With a solid foundation in manufacturing capabilities and by leveraging the significant demand from potential markets, Thaco Trailers aims to further increase its export volume and solidify the position of Vietnamese-made semi-trailers in the global market.
