Let’s explore and indulge in the beauty of this exceptional mooncake collection, where all senses are awakened by a sweet emotion, a subtle blend of nostalgia and the joy of beloved past Mid-Autumn Festivals.

Sharing the idea behind the “Memories” mooncake collection, Thuy Duong said: “This year, I drew inspiration from familiar miniature landscapes and used mooncake ingredients to recreate my childhood scenes. I was born in Northern Vietnam’s countryside, and the tiled roofs, brick yards, moss-covered walls, and betel nut trees in front of the houses have become unforgettable memories. No matter how difficult the past was or how much we lacked, I will always cherish those memories and use my small efforts to preserve them forever.”

Creating the “Memories” collection was not an easy task. Thuy Duong shared: “Instead of using the traditional baked mooncake crust as last year, I opted for a modern recipe with white syrup to control the colors and make them more vibrant. I still used mung bean paste for the filling to facilitate shaping. All the details are handcrafted, so there are many limitations. Sometimes, the cakes would break or bend after baking, which could be discouraging. But whenever I look at the pictures I collected of Northern Vietnamese ancient houses, my spirits are lifted. Now that I’ve finished, I realize how challenging it is to create these miniature landscapes, and I admire those who can do it so well.”

Thuy Duong meticulously crafted, adjusted, and dried each detail of the cakes to maintain the desired colors and shapes. Moreover, achieving the desired appearance wasn’t always easy, and it required her utmost dedication and patience to create the perfect shade of moss and a natural look for her autumn greeting cakes.
