The bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province is a significant infrastructure project, comprising 2.6 km of bridge and over 5 km of access roads, with a total investment of nearly VND 7 trillion.

Nhon Trach Bridge, spanning the Dong Nai River, is part of Component Project 1A (Tan Van – Nhon Trach section) of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3. With 80% of the total volume completed, the project is currently four months ahead of schedule. This progress not only marks a crucial step forward in infrastructure development but also brings joy and hope to millions of people.

According to the contractors, the Nhon Trach Bridge will complete its first span in the following month and is expected to open to traffic on April 30, 2025, four months ahead of the contract schedule.

Mr. Le Dinh Hoang Chuong, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 1A (under the My Thuan Project Management Board, the investor), shared that after the initial spans are joined in September, the entire bridge is set to be completed by January 2025.

“Component Project 1A, once operational, will divert a significant number of vehicles heading towards Long Thanh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, and other areas, reducing the burden on the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway. The project also plays an independent role in connecting the region’s transportation network,” added Mr. Chuong.

The 1A component project, with a total length of 8.22 km (6.3 km in Dong Nai and 1.92 km in Ho Chi Minh City) and an investment of approximately VND 6,955 billion, is a crucial part of the Ring Road 3. The Nhon Trach Bridge, with a length of 2.6 km, is the largest bridge in the Ring Road 3 project and was commenced in September 2022.

During the two years of construction, the project faced challenges such as harsh weather conditions, complex river terrain, land clearance issues in Dong Nai, and shortages of construction sand and fill material.

The first phase of the 1A component project, spanning 8.2 km in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, is part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, which was approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2016 and underwent its latest adjustment in June 2022.

The Ring Road 3, stretching over 90 km through Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Long An, has seen the completion of a 15 km section in Binh Duong. In addition to the 1A component, the remaining sections, totaling over 76 km, are being developed by local authorities with a combined investment of nearly VND 75,400 billion. The entire Ring Road 3 is expected to be completed by 2026, facilitating transportation and boosting economic development in the key southern region.
