The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway project in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province is taking shape after more than a year of construction, while progress in Dong Nai Province remains stagnant due to land clearance issues.

The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway (phase 1) project, with an investment of over VND 19 trillion, was inaugurated in June 2023. The 53.7km-long expressway starts at the bypass road of National Highway 1 (running through Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province) and ends at National Highway 56 in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.

The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway is divided into three component projects: Component Project 1 (invested by the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province), Component Project 2 (managed by the Ministry of Transport), and Component Project 3 (invested by the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province)

According to VTC News’ reporters, Component Project 3 (Km 34+200 – Km 53+700, invested by the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province) is nearing completion.

Observations show that the construction site of Component Project 3 is bustling with activity, with a consortium of three contractors (Son Hai Group Joint Stock Company, 479 Hoa Binh Joint Stock Company, and 703 Construction Investment Joint Stock Company) simultaneously working on over 15 sections, deploying around 225 equipment, and employing more than 400 personnel.

Specifically, Son Hai Company is in charge of a 14.2km stretch of the road, with 5 construction teams, nearly 100 equipment, and 200 workers. Meanwhile, 703 Company is responsible for a 5.3km road section and 2 overpasses, with 5 construction teams, nearly 75 equipment, and 115 workers.

479 Company, on the other hand, is constructing 9 bridges with 8 construction teams, nearly 50 equipment, and 100 workers. They are currently working on 8 out of the 9 bridges, with 7 bridges at the stage of pile foundation and abutment construction, and 1 bridge nearing completion.

According to the Cai Mep – Thi Vai Project Management Board (the investor’s representative for Component Project 3), land clearance for the 19.5km expressway section in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province has been completed, with a 100% clearance rate, and the land filling rate is also nearing 100%. The contractors have substantially finished the road foundation work and are currently constructing local roads.

Specifically, after more than a year since the inauguration, Component Project 1 of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway has only achieved over 6% progress compared to the plan. As for Component Project 2, which consists of two main packages (Package 9 and Package 10), one package has reached 21% completion, while the other has only achieved 5%.
