This is the 13th time the General Department’s Gallery has opened its doors to visitors seeking information about products.

The “Identification of Textbooks and Learning Materials” exhibition is divided into two main areas, displaying nearly 100 types of goods with over 400 products, including popular textbooks and learning materials on the market today. Most of the exhibited infringing products were seized by the Market Management Force during their official duties.

The main highlight of this exhibition is the display of textbooks, exercise books, and reference books, showcasing the differences between genuine and counterfeit products in terms of color, images, book size, paper weight, content, anti-counterfeiting labels, and scratch codes.

By placing the genuine and counterfeit products side by side, the exhibition aims to help visitors, consumers, students, and parents distinguish between authentic and fake products.

In addition, various skill-psychology books, business management books, and art books are also on display for identification.

The exhibition space dedicated to learning materials features well-known brands such as Thiên Long and Hồng Hà, showcasing a range of pens, notebooks, craft paper, and chalkboards with comprehensive identification and comparison points.

According to the General Department of Market Management, the production and trading of counterfeit textbooks, reference books, comic books, and learning materials are prevalent in Vietnam. These fake products often have errors in color, symbols, font, and content, lack updates, and may contain inaccurate information, especially regarding borders and territorial issues.

Counterfeit and pirated books are often printed on low-quality paper, with blurred text and failing to meet technical standards. This can negatively impact students’ physical health, particularly their eyesight.

Using fake educational publications also deprives students of accessing online values, resources, and utilities designed to support their learning experience.

Statistics show that since the beginning of 2024, market management forces nationwide have inspected, detected, and seized hundreds of thousands of counterfeit publications with fake packaging and labels from the Vietnam Education Publishing House and other publishers.

Notable cases include the discovery of nearly 80,000 counterfeit textbooks with fake packaging and labels in Hau Giang, the seizure of 34,000 counterfeit textbooks in Dong Nai, and the detection and confiscation of 5,500 violating textbooks in Tay Ninh.

Sophisticatedly counterfeited illegal books.

According to the leadership of the General Department of Market Management, counterfeit and pirated books infringe on the rights and legitimate interests of publishers, cause significant economic losses to authors and partners, reduce state budget revenues, and damage Vietnam’s reputation internationally, especially regarding the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.
