The Prime Minister has disciplined Mr. Tran Van Can, former Chairman of the People’s Committee of Long An province for the 2016-2021 term (from June 2016 to October 2020), with a warning. This decision was made due to his violations and shortcomings in his work, for which he was also disciplined by the Central Inspection Committee of the Party.
The discipline will take effect from the date of the announcement of Decision No. 1540, dated June 24, 2024, of the Central Inspection Committee.
Previously, at the 42nd meeting of the Central Inspection Committee, Mr. Tran Van Can, former Chairman of the People’s Committee of Long An province, was considered and concluded to be disciplined.
The Central Inspection Committee found that Mr. Tran Van Can, former Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee, and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Long An province, had violated Party regulations and state laws in performing his assigned functions and tasks. He also violated the rules and regulations that Party members must comply with and failed to set a good example, causing serious consequences and negative public opinion, damaging the reputation of the Party and local government organizations.
Based on the Party’s regulations, the Central Inspection Committee decided to discipline Mr. Tran Van Can with a warning.

Long An aims to build 71,250 social houses
According to the Provincial People’s Committee of Long An, in the period of 2023-2024, the province has approved the investment plan and commencement of construction for 14 social housing projects on an area of over 65 hectares, with more than 14,600 units.
