Hyundai Clearance Sale: Grab a Bargain on the 2023 Custin

It’s August 2024, but some dealerships still have a handful of 2023 models in stock, including the Hyundai Custin Special Edition. This has prompted dealers to offer attractive deals on this model, despite limited availability.

A dealership in Hoa Binh is offering a white 2023 Hyundai Custin for just 830 million VND, a price that rivals the standard Toyota Innova Cross (810 million VND). This price is a significant discount from the current manufacturer’s price of 915 million VND, resulting in a savings of 85 million VND.

Furthermore, the dealership consultant mentioned that if the government proceeds with a rumored 50% reduction in registration fees, customers could save an additional 45 million VND. While this information has been circulating in the media and online, the government has not yet made an official announcement.

Should this tax reduction come into effect, the Hyundai Custin would gain a competitive edge over its rival, the Toyota Innova Cross. The Japanese MPV is imported from Indonesia, whereas the Custin is assembled domestically.

Since April 2024, the Hyundai Custin has been outperformed by the Toyota Innova Cross. The Hyundai MPV managed to lead sales only during the first three months of 2024, when the Innova Cross faced supply issues and some dealerships were reportedly engaging in price gouging.

Cumulative sales for the first seven months of 2024 show that the Hyundai Custin sold 1,429 units, while the Toyota Innova Cross sold 2,334 units.

What Does the Hyundai Custin Offer?

With dimensions of 4,950 x 1,850 x 1,725 mm and a wheelbase of 3,055 mm (larger than the Toyota Innova), the Hyundai Custin has been praised by a 20-year automotive expert as “an MPV that’s spacious enough for families yet agile for urban environments.”

Despite being an MPV, the Custin boasts an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.31 Cd, as claimed by the manufacturer. Its styling is less boxy than the Kia Carnival, featuring more curved lines.

The interior takes inspiration from spaceship design, prioritizing comfort and convenience. Notable features include a 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, a rear LCD display, electronic parking brake, automatic climate control, remote start, ambient lighting, and two sunroofs. The second-row seats are designed as two independent business-class-style seats with wireless charging, a work table, and storage.

The Hyundai Custin offers two engine options: a 1.5L or 2.0L gasoline engine. The standard engine produces 170 PS and 253 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed transmission. The higher-end option delivers 236 PS and 353 Nm of torque, also mated to an 8-speed transmission. Drivers can choose from four driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Smart.

In terms of safety, the Hyundai Custin is well-equipped to rival any competitor in its class. In addition to standard features such as ABS, EBD, BA, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and traction control, this minivan also boasts blind-spot monitoring, tire pressure monitoring, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and advanced features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and driver attention warning.

The main difference between the Hyundai Custin Special and Premium editions lies in the interior and safety features. The Special edition lacks the driver’s seat memory function, ventilated and heated front seats, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, forward collision avoidance, rear occupant alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive high beams, and driver attention warning.
