On August 22nd, the People’s Committee of Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province, held a press conference to announce the 2nd Krong Pak Durian Festival, which will take place in 2024.

According to the organizers, the 2nd Durian Festival, themed “Krong Pak Durian – Development and Integration,” will take place from August 31st to September 2nd. The festival will feature 12 main activities, including a contest for durian farmers, a fair with 250 booths introducing OCOP products and local potential agriculture, a cultural food festival of Krong Pak’s ethnic groups, a seminar on building and developing a sustainable durian ecosystem, a street festival, a DJ night and light show, and artistic exchanges between clubs and art groups.
Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Krong Pak district, said that during the festival, an auction will be held for two durian fruits, Ri6 and Dona, which have been crowned “Durian Queen.” The winning bidder will receive two 24k gold-plated durians worth 50 million VND and 70 million VND, respectively.

“All proceeds from the auction will be used for social welfare and reinvested in farmers,” said Ms. Trinh.
At the press conference, journalists also asked about solutions to traffic congestion, plans for exporting frozen durian to the Chinese market, and strategies to improve durian quality.
The organizers also provided preliminary information on the direction of sustainable durian development, aiming to establish a strong position for this fruit in both domestic and international markets.
In 2024, Krong Pak district has approximately 8,000 hectares of durian farms, with an expected yield of over 92,000 tons.
With favorable climate and soil conditions, many durian varieties in Krong Pak yield high-quality fruits. Durian has become the district’s key crop, bringing prosperity to tens of thousands of farmers.
