All Resources Focused on Accelerating Long Thanh Airport Progress

On August 23, the Party Committee of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province organized a conference on the planning of a 5,000-hectare area for the Long Thanh International Airport and its connecting infrastructure.

At the conference, Chairman of the People’s Committee, Vo Tan Duc, assessed that, in the past time, relevant units and Dong Nai province have actively coordinated to implement the items of the Long Thanh Airport project.

The construction of Long Thanh Airport is a key national project and is among the top 16 most anticipated airport projects in the world. Currently, the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is requiring contractors to focus all resources and expedite the construction schedule for the packages.

However, according to ACV’s report, the passenger terminal, the most important item of the Long Thanh Airport project in phase 1, will only be completed by August 2026, about 8 months behind the initial directive of the National Assembly.

Therefore, it is requested that ACV review the project progress, direct the contractors to expedite the construction, and implement a “3-shift, 4-team” schedule, working through holidays and Tet, and even on Saturdays and Sundays, to make up for the project delay and put it into operation by early 2026 as per the resolution of the National Assembly.

Regarding the infrastructure items outside the 5,000-hectare area connecting to the Long Thanh Airport, Chairman of the People’s Committee, Vo Tan Duc, requested that the companies focus on implementing the power and water supply projects to ensure progress and quality.

To avoid all vehicles concentrating on the T1 route to the airport, the Department of Transportation urgently submits a dossier proposing an investment policy for the 769E provincial road from the airport boundary to the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay expressway. At the same time, to speed up the progress of implementing the connecting transport projects: roads 25B, 25C, 769, 770B, 773, Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway, Ring Road 3 – Ho Chi Minh City, Cat Lai ferry replacement bridge, etc.

Recently, the Government Office has issued a document announcing the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting of the Task Force for the investment project to build the Long Thanh International Airport, phase 1.

Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the units implementing Component 4 of the Long Thanh Airport project are not meeting the progress requirements due to a “lack of implementation capacity” and requested the establishment of a Task Force to urgently and effectively implement this component.

It is expected that June 2026 will be the time when the Long Thanh Airport is put into operation. This is a critical time for Dong Nai’s development. Therefore, it is necessary to identify which works and projects related to the Long Thanh Airport must be completed by June 2026 and before.

Real Estate Investors Anticipate Airport Completion

Not only investors who own real estate in Dong Nai areas such as Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, and Cam My but also investors from neighboring areas such as Ba Ria-Vung Tau are anticipating the airport’s completion.

In August 2024, it was observed that buyers’ interest in the FIATO AIRPORT City apartment project by Thang Long Real Group in Nhon Trach district was progressing in tandem with the Long Thanh Airport’s construction progress. This is a rare primary supply of apartments adjacent to the airport, located in the low-rise quality area of Nhon Trach. Investors are looking into real estate near the airport for rental investment or resale when the airport is completed. The scarcity of new supply has also made investors pay more attention to some projects launched at this time.

According to observations, brokers are also more active compared to the same period last year. Some long-time brokers have started to have busier real estate transactions. Recently, a male broker in Nhon Trach, Dong Nai, shared that buyers and investors are returning to the market to explore projects.

According to this broker, not only local investors but also investors from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring areas are “eyeing” the airport’s progress and anticipating its completion. They expect an increase in housing demand when the airport becomes operational. Figures such as 14,000 new employees at the airport, 100 million air passengers annually, 120,000 direct workers at 9 large industrial parks in Dong Nai, and 5,000 experts, CEOs, and senior managers are boosting investors’ confidence.

Additionally, the continuous emergence of infrastructure information in Dong Nai, particularly in the Southeast region, has stimulated investors’ interest after a long period of observation.
