“Viettel Global Sees 25% Revenue Growth in First Half of 2024”

Viettel Global has released its audited consolidated financial statements for the first six months of 2024, reflecting a slight improvement from its previously self-prepared reports. The company's revenue from sales and services witnessed an impressive 25% growth, with a remarkable after-tax profit of VND 2,855 billion.

Reports indicate that the revenue from sales and services of Viettel Global Joint Stock Company (Viettel Global – stock code VGI) reached VND 16,594 billion, up 25% compared to the first six months of 2023. This is more than five times the growth rate of the global telecommunications industry (4.3% according to Gartner). Profit before tax reached VND 4,740 billion. The Corporation has recorded ten consecutive quarters of revenue growth compared to the previous year. The second quarter of 2024 was also the quarter with the highest revenue ever.

In the first six months, all nine markets recorded high growth, with notable performances from Lumitel in Burundi, increasing by 31%, Unitel in Laos by 27%, Mytel in Myanmar by 24%, Movitel in Mozambique by 23%, and Natcom in Haiti by 18%.

Notably, the electronic wallet companies witnessed impressive growth, with M_mola (Mozambique) surging by 169%, U-money (Laos) by 62%, Halopesa (Tanzania) by 34%, and Mosan (East Timor) by 34%. As of June 2024, the revenue from electronic wallet services reached VND 2,089 billion, accounting for 11% of total revenue, and electronic wallet subscribers reached 18.5 million, representing 41% of mobile subscribers.

In May 2024, Movitel (Viettel in Mozambique) impressively climbed to the number one market share position, marking the seventh market where Viettel Global holds the top spot. These milestones underscore the strong presence of Vietnamese enterprises in the international arena.

On June 5, 2024, Viettel Global held its 2024 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, approving all proposals of the Board of Directors. For 2024, the Corporation aims to maintain a double-digit growth rate, with traditional telecommunications growth of over 10% and non-telecommunications services growth of 20-30%. Viettel Global also targets an increase of at least six million digital subscribers.

Viettel Global is pursuing a business expansion strategy in both depth and breadth. In terms of depth, to ensure sustainable and efficient development, Viettel Global maintains its number one position and continues to expand new services in the market, such as Data Center, Cloud, Electronic Wallet, and digital utility services for governments and citizens. Regarding breadth, following invitations from various nations, Viettel Global continues to explore new markets to seek investment and business opportunities.
