Unlocking the Gateway: A Thousand Billion Expansion for a Seamless Connection between Bến Lức and Bình Chánh

The expansion of National Highway 50, connecting Long An and Ho Chi Minh City, is nearing completion, and now, a new road investment has caught the attention of the region. The 830C road, a 9-kilometer stretch from the center of Ben Luc district in Long An to Nguyen Huu Tri Street in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, is set to undergo a transformation. This expansion will not only improve connectivity but also bring new opportunities to the south-western region of Vietnam.

Information from the Long An Department of Transportation on August 26, 2024, revealed that preparations are underway for land clearance to begin on a project to upgrade and rehabilitate 830C Road, connecting Ben Luc district’s center in Long An province to Ho Chi Minh City. The 9km-long project has a total investment of nearly VND 1,000 billion. Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of this year and be completed by the end of 2025.

According to the approved feasibility study report, the project’s starting point, a 0.7km stretch from Nguyen Huu Tho Street to Nguyen Van Tiep Street (Ben Luc town, Ben Luc district, Long An province), will retain its current scale as an urban road with a 12m wide concrete asphalt surface and a 22m wide roadbed.

The remaining 8.3km section from Nguyen Van Tiep Street to the Ho Chi Minh City border (Nguyen Huu Tri Street, Binh Chanh district) will be upgraded and rehabilitated to meet urban road standards, featuring a 20m wide concrete asphalt surface and a 30m wide roadbed.

Province Road 830C intersects not only Nguyen Van Tiep Street but also several important transportation routes in the area bordering Ho Chi Minh City, such as Province Road 830E, the parallel road to the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong Expressway, the parallel road to Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3, and the Tan Buu Junction in Ben Luc district.

As such, the project holds significant importance in enhancing the connectivity between the Southwest region and Ho Chi Minh City, linking existing and emerging major transportation axes. Consequently, travel between the two sides will become more convenient for residents.

Recently, Long An has witnessed a boost in its real estate market due to the active investment in major roads, including the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway, spanning 58km through Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai provinces. The construction of this expressway is being accelerated, with the 21km section from Ho Chi Minh City to Long An expected to open to traffic in the first quarter of 2025.

Upon completion, this route, along with the closure of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3, will reduce travel time between Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and other provinces in the Southeast region, forming a comprehensive dynamic linkage axis for the western region.

Over the years, Long An has witnessed the development of numerous illuminated urban areas, thanks to infrastructure improvements. Transportation infrastructure has brought the region closer to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, increasing the demand for both practical and investment-oriented housing in large-scale urban areas. Additionally, reasonable prices and diverse product options continue to be “plus points” driving demand from other regions to shift strongly to Long An.

Observations indicate that several urban projects in Long An continue to garner positive market attention. For instance, Nam Long recently introduced The Aqua Signature, a limited collection of riverfront properties with prices starting at VND 12 billion per unit, in the integrated Waterpoint urban area (Ben Luc, Long An). Due to its location within an existing urban area with well-established high-end utilities, the project has attracted significant interest from buyers.

Evidently, improved connectivity has made it easier for people to “go further and come closer,” leading to a shift in the perception of owning real estate adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City. For today’s homebuyers, administrative boundaries are no longer a psychological barrier. The concept of the center has been redefined to include the centers of satellite cities, prioritizing convenience in commuting, daily activities, and access to quality-of-life amenities.

830C Road is expected to commence construction by the end of this year.

In the future, both Ho Chi Minh City and Long An will continue to invest in numerous other infrastructure projects to address transportation issues between the two localities. Specifically, the National Highway 50B project, with a total investment of VND 18,600 billion, will directly connect Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, and Tien Giang. Additionally, Ho Chi Minh City has proposed extending Vo Van Kiet Street to the Duc Hoa district in Long An, while also investing in a complete interchange with Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation has suggested the early implementation of a new road in the northwest region, approximately 8km long and 40m wide. This project will extend the inter-hamlet road 6-2-5 from Nguyen Thi Tu and Vinh Loc streets to the border of Long An province, with a total investment of about VND 8,800 billion in the form of a PPP during the period of 2024-2030.

Also, in the northwest region, the Department of Transportation has proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee allocate over VND 6,000 billion to widen Nguyen Van Bua and Phan Van Hon streets (Hoc Mon district) to connect with Long An. The project is expected to be implemented during the 2024-2028 period.
