The Prime Minister’s working visit aimed to speed up the progress of the project to increase the capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport, and solve the issues of overload and congestion here.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the progress of the T3 project is very optimistic and there is no need to worry. However, he instructed the units to continue to control the progress and promote long-term transportation projects for the airport.

“The project is relatively on schedule. Pay attention to the milestone of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the country in 2025, we must create other works, new victories,” the Prime Minister said.

The government leaders requested the units to set goals to push the progress in the next 2 months; arrange overtime work, increase shifts, and train workers to work continuously, even during holidays.

The T3 terminal construction project commenced in December 2022, with 3 main items: passenger terminal, high-rise car park combined with non-aviation services, and the causeway system in front of the terminal; the total investment is 10,990 billion VND. The capital is mobilized from ACV (70%) and commercial loans (30%).

When completed, the T3 terminal will have a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, serving 7,000 passengers per hour during peak hours, and operating all types of airplanes coded C and E. It will be implemented simultaneously with the expansion of the transportation infrastructure connecting the airport, solving the long-standing congestion at Tan Son Nhat airport.
