Bach Dang Bridge 2: A Majestic Link Between Binh Duong and Dong Nai

On August 31st, the Binh Duong Province’s Project Management Unit for Transport Construction Investments shared exciting news. Despite challenges, the Bach Dang 2 Bridge project, connecting Vinh Cuu District in Dong Nai Province and Tan Uyen City in Binh Duong Province, has been successfully completed, just in time for the National Day celebrations on September 2nd.

To meet the deadline, the construction team worked tirelessly through the final days of August, braving the sun and rain. The bridge now boasts a smooth asphalt surface, efficient drainage systems, and elegant lampposts and railings.

The Bach Dang 2 Bridge is a highly anticipated project for the people of Binh Duong Province. With a total length of over 2.8 km and a width of 17 m, accommodating four lanes of traffic, it facilitates trade and travel between Dong Nai and Binh Duong Provinces, as well as other provinces in the Southeast region. The bridge also provides a crucial link to Long Thanh Airport, Bien Hoa Airport, and the region’s seaports. The project’s total investment amounts to nearly VND 500 billion.

Initially, the project was expected to be completed by the end of 2022. However, land clearance issues and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays. Recognizing the project’s significance, the Binh Duong provincial leadership took proactive steps to address obstacles and accelerate construction. Image: Satellite capture

The Magnificent Oil-Tree Tower: A Symbol of Binh Duong’s Heritage

Another eagerly awaited project, the oil-tree tower, was also completed just in time for the National Day celebrations on September 2nd.

Standing tall at 24 meters and costing VND 10 billion, the oil-tree-shaped tower is located on Bach Dang walking street in Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot City.

The tower, situated on the banks of the Saigon River, has become a symbol of Binh Duong and a fascinating attraction for locals and visitors alike during the National Day holiday.

In 2021, the Binh Duong Province’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism introduced a new logo for the tourism sector, featuring the iconic oil-tree flower with a radial composition, forming a large blossom. This tree is native to the region and holds cultural significance.

The tower’s design incorporates the oil-tree fruit as the base, connecting to the tower’s body. At the top are two clocks modeled after the clocks in the iconic Thu Dau Mot market, and a flagpole.

The two steel oil-tree petals, each measuring 21.6 meters in length and weighing over 4 tons, are painted to match the natural color of the flower. Between the petals is an observation deck offering stunning views of the Saigon River and the Bach Dang walking street.

Inside one of the petals, a spiral staircase leads up to the observation deck. The interior walls feature paintings depicting the region’s scenic beauty and cultural heritage.

The circular observation deck has a railing over one meter high and can accommodate nearly 15 people at once. At night, the tower comes alive with a vibrant LED lighting system that continuously changes colors, including spotlights shining skyward.
