The Potential Districts and Wards to be Established When Thua Thien-Hue Becomes a Central City

The Ministry of Construction has approved the establishment of Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa districts and their respective wards, in the soon-to-be-centrally-governed city of Thua Thien - Hue.

On September 5th, the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province announced that the Ministry of Construction had issued Decision 884 recognizing the proposed areas for the establishment of districts and wards within Thua Thien-Hue as it aspires to become a centrally-governed city meeting the standards for urban infrastructure development.

Decision 884, signed and issued by the Ministry of Construction on September 4th, recognizes two proposed areas for the establishment of districts. Specifically, the proposed area for the establishment of Thuan Hoa District (South of Huong River) comprises the entire administrative boundaries of the following wards: Phu Hoi, Phu Nhuan, Vinh Ninh, Phuong Duc, Thuy Xuan, Truong An, Phuoc Vinh, An Cuu, An Dong, An Tay, Xuan Phu, Vy Da, Thuy Van, Phu Thuong, Thuan An, and Thuy Bieu; and the communes: Hai Duong, Phu Thanh, Phu Mau, Phu Duong, Thuy Bang, and Huong Phong, within the current city of Hue.

The Thuan An sea-crossing bridge, part of the construction project of the coastal road in Thua Thien-Hue Province, will contribute to local socio-economic development. This area will form a coastal urban area.

The proposed area for the establishment of Phu Xuan District (North of Huong River) comprises the entire administrative boundaries of the following wards: Dong Ba, Gia Hoi, Thuan Loc, Tay Loc, Thuan Hoa, Phu Hau, Huong Vinh, Huong So, An Hoa, Huong Long, Huong An, Kim Long, Huong Ho, and the commune of Huong Tho, within the current city of Hue.

According to the same decision, the Ministry of Construction also recognized four proposed areas for the establishment of wards within the proposed Thuan Hoa District, meeting the standards for the level of urban infrastructure development of wards in a type I city. These include the proposed wards of Thuan An, comprising the entire administrative boundary of Thuan An ward and Hai Duong commune; Duong No ward, comprising the entire administrative boundaries of Phu Thanh, Phu Mau, and Phu Duong communes; Thuy Bang ward, comprising the entire administrative boundary of Thuy Bang commune; and Huong Phong ward, comprising the entire administrative boundary of Huong Phong commune.

Long Ho ward, comprising the entire administrative boundary of Huong Ho ward and Huong Tho commune within the proposed Phu Xuan District, meets the standards for the level of urban infrastructure development of wards in a type I city.
