The Chinese automotive market is abuzz with the arrival of the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport, the latest offering from Chery, promising to be a new choice for tech and design enthusiasts. The vehicle is already at dealerships and is expected to launch in September 2024.

The Tiggo 7 Sport captivates onlookers at first glance with its exterior design reminiscent of the Range Rover Evoque, particularly in the front end. Being a joint venture partner of Jaguar Land Rover in China, it’s understandable that the vehicle’s design bears a resemblance to the Range Rover.

A large grille, distinctive air intakes, and sleek daytime running lights are the key features that quickly endear the Tiggo 7 Sport to customers. Additionally, hidden door handles and roof rails, shared with the Jaecoo J7, further enhance the vehicle’s modern appeal. However, unlike the Jaecoo J7, which is capable of light off-roading, the Tiggo 7 Sport is designed exclusively for urban commuting.

Step inside the Tiggo 7 Sport, and you’ll find a modern and refined interior. The cabin is expected to feature a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment screen, and a unique gear selector with driving modes, catering to tech-savvy drivers. This focus on advanced technology and comfort indicates that Chery is targeting a more premium segment of the market with this model.

While full technical specifications are yet to be revealed, it is predicted that the Tiggo 7 Sport will utilize the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine as the Jaecoo J7. This engine produces 145 kW at 5,500 rpm and 290 N.m of torque at 2,000 rpm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, depending on their driving preferences.

The introduction of the Tiggo 7 Sport in the South African market is seen as a strategic move by Chery. Following the warm reception of the Jaecoo J7, there is a good chance that the Tiggo 7 Sport will also impress customers, especially those seeking a luxurious and technologically advanced SUV.

However, everything will depend on factors such as pricing and quality—areas where Chery needs to excel to compete effectively.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Sport 2025 is expected to be extremely affordable, priced at less than 100,000 Chinese yuan (approximately 350 million VND). This price is even lower than that of A-segment hatchbacks like the Kia Morning and Hyundai Grand i10 available in the Vietnamese market.
